Differential and Transmission ratios
It's not very accurate in this game but, I'm sure someone has figured out the sweet spot for hitting the 200 mph mark on the Speed Track? If so, please list your ratios.

First point I want to make... do NOT refer me to someone's long drawn out boring video. Second, I'm an actual mechanic and I know what all the ratios mean irl and in this game. Third... tire sizes are relevant to hp. It's why tiny cars with tiny motors have tiny wheels and large muscle cars have larger wheels. But, it doesn't make a huge impact on speed. So, that's probably not where the problem lies. And, finally.. yes, I did search this forum but couldn't find an answer of anyone giving an actual list of "best" ratios. Now that's out of the way.....

My best track speed so far is 199 mph before reaching the end of the track. Unfortunately, this game doesn't accurately adjust for Differential ratios. You can run your moderate 3.23 gears as is in a stock 2006 5.7L Charger R/T or 3.73 gears as what's in the rear end of the Charger SRT of same year. Granted, the top speed for each ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gear adjusts accordingly but, you won't really see this change accurately on the track. Our lack of controlling shifts shows it changing gears a lot sooner than what that gear can reach thus, lugging the engine at the next gear if your gears are too varied in the high range. Obviously, you don't want to drop your last gear to something like 0.56 or else... it will take a long time to reach top speed. But, maybe someone can prove me wrong.

My test machine (since I recently aquired it) is a Pagani Huayra Tempesta with the V12 cranking 712 hp... I think... which is more than enough hp. Heck, my charger R/T could hit 200 with a few mods. I've run it with lots of different ratios. I think my best was with 4.11 gears, 7 ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gears starting at 3.06 ending at .67, with my 0-100 @ 5.6 seconds. Note* changing between diff gears of 3.73 to 4.11 only made 1/10th of second difference... just trivia info. I've adjusted ratios so the lower gears hit over 100 fairly quick while the upper gears don't change too much. This has made it so I can get near 200 faster. It still eludes me though.

So, what's your best gear ratios anyone's found for best speed times and anyone reaching 200 mph on Speed Track?

712 hp is clearly just stock car for Pagani.
Most powerful engines are Paganis and V8 with supercharger.
Tempesta is not the fastest one out there, need Pagani Zonda Revolucion for that.
Best I could do with this was 1429 hp and 408 km/h (255 mph):

Gear ratios:

final ratio - 4.93
1 - 4.50
2 - 1.86
3 - 1.17
4 - 0.85
5 - 0.67
6 - 0.59

Best gear ratios are individual for each car and depend on the parts used. Just need to do some testing to find the best setup.

Funnily enough since you mentioned Smith 1500 you can actually do that 200 mph with tuned Smith when you replace the engine with V8 HEMI:

Apparently, Steam don't like the shortened version of Transmission. I really didn't curse or make insulting names toward certain ppl's preferences. I guess I should of used the word Granny to refer to Transmission instead but, that refers to a whole other gear ratio which we used to have in old trucks. That Smith 1500 should probably have one, lol.

Sweet! Holy heck that's a big transition from 1st gear to 2nd. Ofc, with high hp motors you can get away with it. I had assumed it could be done with standard parts. I mean 721 hp (correction on my part originally stating 712 by accident) seems to be more than enough.... or so one would think. Having come so close (199 mph) I assumed I must just be off in those ratios but, couldn't for the life of me get them adjusted any better. In fact, didn't write all my ratios down and now having a hard time achieving the 199 again. I'm going back to the drawing board with this info. Thx so much for your response. It's very enlightening.

Or a simpler way to achieve higher speeds is to modify the config.txt. Under [1_other] cx=x.xxx is the key. The lower the number, the faster/more powerful the car. cx=-0.9999 (note the minus/negative number) will make even cars with 4 cylinder engines fly off the track at tremendous speeds. I've found cx=-0.3333 to be a sweet spot for most V8s, and may be necessary to change RWD cars to 4x4 to keep them tracking fairly straight. :)

No offense david but, that's more or less saying.... in order to pass a test, you have to re-write the test with questions you already know the answers to. Or, simply.... cheating. While your suggestion would certainly work, I'm just trying to achieve the goal without modifying the game. Besides, I don't like to mess with game files unless it's to fix a bug in the game or make performance of the game better. But, thanks for your input just the same. It is appreciated.

Cheating? Maybe, maybe not. It takes some practice to know what effect these changes will have upon cars so it's far from changing the questions to suit.

I see the fact that Red Dot allows these files to be modified as a valuable part of the game. Some people prefer editing text files over using the in-game editor. It's also a quick way to add any engine to any car in the game, change wheels, tires, and sizes, add downforce, change seats and steering wheels, etc.. And the bodyconfig.txt allows us to change default body parts to performance parts supplied to us by the game developers and mod authors. Had you specified that you didn't want to edit files, I wouldn't have suggested it. But then, every edit made to cars in the (supplied for good reasons) in-game editor also modifies these files. To each their own. :)
