Comparing my hardware performance when running 2018, its obvious that my graphics card is the culprit, however it has never really had issues with texture sizes, as there is only a 1 FPS hit in most games if it is affected at all (also, I ran 2015 at the highest texture settings available with no issues), so shouldnt the texture size not matter then?
As for other rendering aspects, from what I see, not much has changed in terms of the 3D models used in the game. Hell, in 2015 I could even have shadows, floor reflections, and anti-aliasing on and get consistent performance. I even forced some rendering options not accessible in-game through the nvidia control panel (disabled ambient occlusion and texture filtering, changed power management to max performance, etc.), and only saw minimal improvements.
I'm not saying you guys are wrong, I just am trying to better explain my situation and hopefully find ways to squeeze out some frames. Unfortunately, I do not have a desktop, and am a college student with little income to spare, so I cant really upgrade my hardware.
My specs:
Model: HP Envy 15-j059nr Notebook
OS: Windows 10 64 bit (had 7 and 8 before it)
CPU: Intel Core i7-4700MQ @ 2.4 GHz w/ 6MB cache, boost up to 3.4 GHz
(I dont think the CPU performance is the issue, as it only is utilizing around 8% when the game is running)
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM
Dedicated GPU: Nvdia Ge-Force GT740M
Integrated GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4600
If your notebook would have a gtx instead of a gt you would be able to play better. And it should be a gtx 760 or better.
Yeah, I really wish PC's could use external GPU's...now I need to pay for a whole PC instead of just buying a better GPU.
