Confused
So i bought a car from a barn, and i wanna put a supercharger on it. Its the V8 OHV block, i buy the intake manifold supercharger V8 ohv, but it only lets me put a carb intake manifold..

Do i have to buy a different engine block or is the game not that advanced? I dont understand, the supercharger i wanna add is for the v8 ohv motor..

It doesn't work that way. You can check out this tutorial to do it manually: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1106142531

Or you could wait for them to implement engine swaps.

As far as I'm aware, you can't modify any of the engines yet, and you can't swap engines from car to car. Engine - car type has to remain the same for now from what I can gather. I think they plan to change that at a later date though.

Or, as Bear Arms said above, you can tweek the game files to be able to mix things up a bit. That's a bit beyond my level of expertise really though. I'll stick to spanner twirling for now, it's easier! :D

Although not the ideal solution, as Bear suggested, try the editor. It is really simple. Copy 2 files, open editor, replace engine, save the car. Load up the game and both variants are now in game. I can give you step by step to help if you would like. I dont have a drop box or anything like that, otherwise I would drop the car files in that for you.

Car Engine Variations
So over the past few weeks I have seen alot of people asking how do we change engines? It is actually rather quick and painless to do. Here are the steps.

1. Read this guide by Sandman. He summed it up rather nicely.

2. Didn't quite understand the guide then do this:
a. Navigate to this file: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Car Mechanic Simulator 2018\cms2018_Data\StreamingAssets\Cars

b. Find the car file you want to edit and copy the bodyconfig and config files into that same car folder. Reason being when you work in the editor and save the game it will overwrite one of those whilst keeping the other. Adding the variation to the game.

c. Go into the editor. In Steam App click on view, right click on CMS2018 and you will see the editor on the list. Open that up.

d. Once in the editor you will see all the options that you can change. Everything from engines to tires. When changing an engine, if going from a standard to a supercharged there are 2 versions of the V8 Supercharged. So maybe the V8 you want to supercharge may have an equal already made so you really don't have to mess with the exhaust alignment and such to much.

Anyhow hope this helps and clears some things up for you guys. You cannot however at this time change out single parts on engines. Also on a side note it took longer to write this, about 10 minutes, than it takes to actually do it and make it working in game.
