Replacing multiple parts
When removing parts to replace, i tend to remove everything that needs to be removed first before fixing / buying new ones. I'm going to use Rubber Bushings as an example, lets say 4 need replacing, but you have taken out 7 or 8 to get to all the damaged parts, why is it that those exact 4 need to be replaced with the new ones, if you put the car back together in a different order than you took it apart the new ones have gone in first and the existing ones are now in place of the ones that required replacing, but the game does not recognize that and insists on having to go back and remove them all again highlight the exact ones that are on the list of parts needing replacing and doing it again.

Please tell me if i am missing something and i can finish the order regardless of the red X still showing for that particular part, because if not this is very annoying to have to rectify every time i fix multiple of the same part but not all of them.

This is exactly why I don't do any suspension work.

I usually buy extra bushings. I'll buy 10 at a time and just hold on to the spares

I'm not sure if i understand you but I never had a problem where the game refuses my repairs if I put the new parts in another emplacement than the broken one (for the same kind of part). Like you I tend to remove everything broken before fixing and never had a problem.

If the damage / fault is less than 25% then you have to replace it according to game mechanics. However its upto you. IRL Mechanics cut corners claim they replaced it and not done so and charged you.

this is why i learned to only work on one side of the car FIRST. then move on the other side.

If you dont want to replace all the bushings, just go to the car statistic screen and hit the 'star' on the bushings that needs to be replaced. This way the one that needs replacing will have a blue outline, so you know where to put the new ones and where you can put the old ones.

Those 4 only need to be replaced with bushings that are in a state of repair that is above the repair percentage listed in the work order, they don't have to be brand new. You can chose any bushing that meets the need from the bushing list at the bottom of the parts pick screen.

You can keep and use bushings in inventory that are from the last job that may have been an 80% job and use them on a 53% job.

From my experience, you only have to put parts back in the same place only with the story jobs. All other jobs it doesn't seem to matter.

Correct, only story orders are picky about this, and also require 100% quality (brand new) replacements parts. For normal jobs the assembly order does not matter as long as the parts are above the required percentage.

If you were a decent mechanic, you'd replace the bushes if they needed it and not stick old rubbish back in, just to save the customer a few cents.

True aswell. The game is pretty a guide book to half-a$$ing a job.

"46% parts required to 'fix', alrighty....I'll just go through my discard stock to see how much junk I can get rid of."

Also doesn't force "in-pair" repairs, for example brakes and suspension parts (irl) should always be replaced on both sides. Otherwise you end up with asymmetric braking and/or suspension which can be quite dangerous actually.

Thanks for the feedback guys, Bushings was really just an example as stated, it was any part where you had to remove multiple but only had to replace some of them, keeping track of which ones had to be replaced was annoying, left side or right side did not matter as there are multiple parts on each side, not doing Suspension did not matter as there are multiple parts in every area, and it seems the only time i have to make sure which order i replace parts is when the customer wants the replacement parts to be a higher quality than the existing ones in the car, thanks again.

Looks like original convo was about story missions. So you only allowed to either put "old" parts back or replace 'em with 100% item.

This right here is all you need to do. This practice saves you the time of having to take off parts that don't need replacing.
