Custom Cars, Exhaust & Alignment
One thing I've noticed with pretty much 90% of the custom cars is that the exhaust is either missing, unfinished or miss-aligned. Cars with 4x4 transfer cases that don't even connect to the drive shaft or missing the drive shaft completely, exhaust not fitting to manifolds, big gaps that make the car feel unfinished and look glitched. Misalignment where its painfully obvious when working on a car. This is basically a puzzle game and the pieces aren't matching up. So I was wondering, if people can make custom car shells and body parts, why is it that this cannot (or is not) being done for making the guts of the car line-up and fit together? Like using base exhaust and then filling in the gaps with custom exhausts? Or using more DLC packs even? I can put up with minor clipping, so long as things align. Its a shame because so many of these mods look good on the outside. Only OLD cars seem to have less of a problem when it comes to their guts matching up but quite a few of them also have these problems. I'm not a stickler for realistic power, engine or any of that stuff. I don't mind if the WRONG parts are used for a real world vehicle so long as it all fits together and looks nice. Perhaps this game isn't mod friendly but again I stress, if custom car shells are possible and custom maps why not custom exhausts? Not custom engine, I know that's been a problem for modders. I'm always a fan of modders who upload their creations for free because mods (I mod other games myself) take a while to make but always make games better, its just a fact. So I'm sure they are doing their best with what they are allowed. If anyone knows why these issues are common in custom cars that would be a big help. As of now, I ASSUME that the developers of this game didn't really have modders in mind, and if true I'll consider that for future purchases.

So Transfer cases are part of engines, so only a few engines have them, front driveshafts are part of the front suspension, only so many options of that (can't adjust it like regular driveshaft) so the likely hood of the 2 coming together is non-existant. Exhaust doesn't not line up because we don't want it to, we want it to line up more than you people do. We just have very specific prefab exhaust, You either get some exhaust with fake tips, or exhaust that doesn't line up with down pipes and lines up on the outside of the car. Just like engines we cannot make our own assets for them.

The main problem is the Game Editor is rather tricky and difficult to work with. It's not consistent in it's behavior either. I recommend watching a tutorial on using the Editor and then giving it a go. I was rather disappointed with 4x4's having drive axles hanging in mid air also. So, I gave the editor a go. Yeah... not happening for me. I only use it for slight modifications if at all. I made a Smith 1500 XLT model with some modifications. Creating another instance of an existing model is the easiest / safest way to work in the editor imo. And, even if you "verify integrity" of local files, it will leave the extra model you create. So, I have the Smith 1500 + Smith 1500 XL and a Smith 1500 XLT with a Windsor 489 in it and some existing parts moved slightly to eliminate clipping.
Also, try changing suspension height and checking out the result. You'll start seeing how difficult things will get. Good luck.

You cant get anywhere near the build quality of game and official DLC with mods, that`s why I dont use any mods anymore, they are just not satisfying enough.
This is not said to insult the hardworking modders but to acknowledge that editor is pretty limited and there is only so much you can do with it.

Ahhh I see, thank you for your reply! I have learned a little about adjusting parts in the files provided to try and line things up a little better with custom cars, haven't figured out how to replace with a different part lol! It's usually the exhaust, either its missing or unaligned because the axel / engine / drive shaft placements don't always align with the custom car models I assume.

I agree and I just don't use customs for now but yes I definitely appreciate all the hard work these very generous modders do. I'm just really OCD about some things lmao!

But I've got to have my Batmobile. It's basically the reason I own the Rims dlc.

I have fixed some exhaust and steering racks going through cars so if you like help with any particular mod I can see what I can do.
If a modder would like me to try and fix any issues, let me know.
I might need an hour to fix some issues so I do little in comparasion to the modder who create the whole thing.
I understand if they don't feel like fiddling around in the editor and rather make their exterior art work.
