Engine stand problems
hello fellow machanics, i'm new to this game and i have what seems to be the same problem
many of us have. my situation. i pulled an engine from a car that i needed to service,
i put the engine on the stand and took it apart all the way down until the engine disappeared
so i can use the work bench and fix as many parts as possible. most got fixed accept the main
engine block! so i look up what engine i need bought it and wanted to place it on the engine stand. then i get a massage ''no parts to work with'' so i check if i had the right engine block?
it was the right engine but could not use it? so i noticed ''build new engine'' i click on that to find the same engine i was attempting to build. so i try again to place the engine block on the stand to
build a new engine but i get the same massage ''no parts to work with''
so what i'm asking for is. does anyone know what I am doing wrong or is this a serious game breaking bug? please help!

I just checked it. On Engine Stand i selected build engine option and selected V8 2carb OHV. I bought V8 OHV block and it worked as it should.
Which version of Smith 1500 do you have? Base or Smith 1500 XL.
Base version ships with I6 OHV engine.
XL version ships with V8 2carb OHV engine.

btw, why is it that we can't by additional parts that should come with a new engine block? like a dipstick.

Which engine block did you buy? For Smith 1500 it should be I6 B and I don't have any problems with it.

the I6 OHV for the smith 1500 same as the one that came out of the car.

Engine is I6 OHV but you have to buy I6 B engine block.

best way to do it until you figure out how engines work is :
put engine block IN THE CAR, and take it out with the engine crane, go to engine stand, install the block and start working on it. problem solved.
That way you are sure to have the right engine for the right car
