HELP! ALL progress lost!!!
My main save game including all my cars are gone. It's 300 hours of gametime!!!
I played friday evening with no issues.
When I started the game saturday, my main profile was reset to the point where the game wanted me to start a tutorial.
I went in and checked my save game folder for that profile (..\AppData\LocalLow\Red Dot Games\Car Mechanic Simulator 2018\profile0).
Both that AND the backup folder only contained 2 files: "difficulty.txt" and "name.txt".

I then checked my save game folder for another profile (..\AppData\LocalLow\Red Dot Games\Car Mechanic Simulator 2018\profile1).
That folder contains 191 files.

I closed down the game friday evening around midnight my time.
I don't know if it can be a problem that I had 3 identical cars on my lifts at the time.

Apparently the bug also destroyed my cloud save.
Is there ANY way to restore it?

Sometimes you lose your safegame due to game updates, There is nothing you can do about that. But In this case you should have kept a safegame somewhere else on your harddisc.
Thats what i,m doing on a regulair base. i dont think there is anyone who could help you at this point. But did you use any mods as well, Or do you only use the default game with sertain or none DLC content? Mods can destroy your game entirely you see. just asking......

I have only official DLC's installed.
I would think that the "cloud" should have backups, so they could restore my progress. Otherwise, what is the point in cloud saves, if your local corrupted saves overwrite them?
Also, as far as I remember, there wasn't even any updates around the time it happened.
Another thing is, I did have a backup from earlier that evening, but when I tried to use that, then my garages was empty, and so was my shop. It seems like the cars only are saved in the cloud.

Game itself is not deleting any files - especially from backup folder.

This could be Steam Cloud issue - hard to judge. We wanted to turn it off - but there was not much cloud issues reported recenly, that why we leave it on.

So you say I just have to deal with those lost 300 hours?

As B@d Cop already said - those issues with the steam cloud are there since release. And all this stuff was discussed a thousand times or even more. And having 300 hours means you are not a beginner and you should be aware of all those things...

Im really sorry to say this, but playing such games like CMS2018 without manually backing up your save files is... stupid.

Im manually backing up my files after finishing EVERY story job or after restoring of EVERY car I want to keep in my parking lot.

I disabled Steam Cloud for this game after I got fed up with cars disappearing, a long time ago - haven't had any such issues since. If you're always going to play the game on the same computer I highly recommend turning Steam Cloud off for CMS2018, and implementing suitable backup measures of your own (I have a weekly scheduled backup of my primary drive to a secondary one - good enough for me).

even if im reviving a possibly dead thread.

contrary to what the devs told, my game did delete game files. i was just rebuilding a car from a barn when i closed the game, bought a dlc, got back to the game and all progress went nuts.
then i checked for the folder containing the save games and - like i expected - it was empty. beside the difficulty settings and the name. and yes i DID check the backup folder which was also empty.

funny thing tho is that all other test- and cheat-profiles i created to try stuff out kept their "progress". this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. i paid 25 € for nothing right now. work of at least one month has gone to hell now. great ...

My only thought would be maybe a data recovery tool.

After I experienced the same thing, I activated the File History. Now I can't loose more than 3 hours of gameplay.
