As I said, I did not use the crane to take it out.
Cannot see the reasoning behind "to put an engine in a car using the crane, you must first take it out of the car using a crane"
So I have to strip the engine on the stand, and build it back into the car manually. Thats ridiculous. I think I will do it another day.
Like I just said. Take the engine out of the car with the crane, then you'll be able to put the new engine in. If you don't do that first the game doesn't seem to like putting a engine back in
I got the engine turned 90 degree on the engine stand and can build the whole thing in that mode/position. You only have to lift the car once up and down to remove the drivetrain + gearbox
So maybe i'm lucky with my particular game, but I haven't experienced any sort of bugs with the engine crane/stand aslong you keep in mind that you have to use the crane to remove the engine instead of manually taking it apart from the engine bay.
From a realistic point of view I would say ''yes, the game should register it when the engine bay is empty, by crane or manually, but who knows, perhaps that is a serious ♥♥♥♥♥ for Red Dot to program into the game or something. If not, feel free to apply for a job there and help them out;)
