Every update..
... breaks something else. This is a game specific problem, not a steam problem or review.

It's great that the developers keep working on new features. But it's very discouraging how every update breaks something else. Don't they test these changes before implementing them?

The shop loading times were fine before the last big update. Now they've provided a "fix" for that which gets it half way back to where it was, and broke the traveling loading times. They're now twice as long as before this update - might as well take a nap when traveling back to garage from anywhere.

The new menus have eliminated the Esc key from working - like if you select the wrong part in the shop, now you must click on the silly X at the top left of the menu instead of just Esc out. This is the only game or anything computer related that I've seen the X at top left instead of top right. Same for hitting Esc in garage, which takes you to the save and exit, exit without save, or continue menu - now can no longer Esc back. These are not improvements in my opinion and constant changes such as these make us relearn how the game works.

The lag in all areas is worse than ever. I used to build 4 or 5 engines at a time with all parts in inventory plus have 100 bushings in inventory, all at highest graphics settings without it impacting how parts install. Now I have shut all background programs down and run medium graphics settings to eliminate mouse lag, and still can't do 2 engines at a time without it studdering on each part during installation. It's not like my system is maxed out. My CPU never goes above 30% and I have 24GB of memory that never uses more than 30%. So these problems are in the game itself, not using the hardware resources available to it.

A couple months ago this was a very smooth gaming experience. It's gotten worse with each update since the Pagani DLC. Frankly, I'd rather have bypassed half of these "upgrade/updates" to keep it working smoothly. The purpose of posting this is that hopefully the developers read it and change the way they realease updates - at least test them, and don't provide updates that destroy performance or cause us to change how we play the game. Thanks

Thanks Jon. Strange though. I still think it's something in the more recent updates not being optimized properly than my parking storage or number of mods. And it obviously doesn't use all available resources (CPU and RAM).

I'm now on my 3rd profile with over 1000 hours total. On my 2nd profile I had over 600 hours and all 13 parking floors filled with no detectable performance lag. I was rebuidling 5 cars or engines at a time without problems. I started over because I couldn't bear to cull any more cars from parking. :) This profile has 5 floors filled and much more laggy than the last one - started about 3-4 weeks ago which also about when the performance issues started. But I still have all mods enabled, so who knows?!

I hear you about the editing hours. I edit all cars and make a version or 2 of my own. Spend more time editing configs and in game editor than I do in the game itself. I also change where cars can be found for every single one - makes finding new ones much easier when they're the only ones going to salon or junkyard.

One would think parking and mods would need to be loaded once, more only if changes occurred. And it's not going to my parking, junkyard, salon, barns, or test track that's suffering, it's only going back to my garage from anywhere - even when empty, and to the speed track.

Had I started playing this today, I wouldn't have continued due to the lag and studdering.

I was a system builder for 15 years so I know the importance of backups. I have mods and game cars folders backed up too but I don't back up every time I play, just every week or so.

Kind regards to you too mate. :)

+1
yep engine swap, good old days
and good idea for devs to use beta branch feature in the future

Ironically, they've just released update 1.5.18, which among other things, fixed the Esc button and "supposedly" fixed return to garage time. I say supposedly because my first 2 trips from salon to garage were both 75 seconds - so nothing has changed. Point is that these problems aren't just with me, and more importantly, the devs are working towards fixes constantly. Just wish we weren't guinnea pigs for testing manditory updates. :)

i cant launch the game can anyone help?

@FosterUnbroken7 try this: open the steam app, right click on the game and select properties (at the bottom), go to the Local Files tab and select "Verify Integrity of Game Files". It will take a few minutes for it to check and upload problematic files. When it's done, try to start the game. Good luck. :)
