Part Damage and Performance
I like keeping the rusty frame parts, body parts ect. all parts you would not normally replace in your car. I try not to swap out used parts for brand new parts when I can help it. What I would like to know is, when should I repair my used parts? When I build a Rust Bucket I repair any parts below 50%. Does part damage effect the car? Example: If I use a engine block with 13% life left on it, will the block perform as good as a new one?

THE PERFORMANCE WILL NOT BE THE SAME AND THE VALUE OF THE CAR WILL NOT BE THAT GOOD AS RESTORE IT 100% THE VALUE WILL BE GOOD BUT ITS UP TO YOU

A engine with 13% will give you just about 13% power. Lame car!!!

It is more realistic to simply replace parts than repair them. Parts are rarely, if ever, repaired. They are simply replaced. It is only in the game due to money concerns. In real life I'm not sure it makes much sense outside of patching a tire here or there that has damage in the tread area. Most car parts are one use throwaways. Most car parts also come in sub-assemblies as in you can't just buy one piece in the sub assembly and you must buy it all.

I repair the cars in game the way I would in real life. If the brakes are bad on 2 wheels I replace all 4. If the drive side caliper is bad I replace the passenger side b/c they were both put on at the same time, presumably, so they are both the same age. One failed, one didn't but leaving the one that didn't on the car is unsafe b/c it probably doesn't have much life left in it. There are car repair scams out there but most of the time when your mechanic goes to fix X and finds Y is bad it is b/c most of the parts were all put on at the same time and if you have disassembled X enough that Y is simpler, might as well replace X and Y. It makes sense but is not always easy on the pocket book.
