Creating a new engine is simple.Click on the engine stand, select create new engine. When the engine list comes up right or left scroll till you find the one you want. Click one the engine from the list then on the engine in the box above. Then click on the engine stand and select mount part.By the cursor it will tell you what block or part you need.Just continue through the whole motor like that, it won't let you mount a wrong part.Hope this helps.

so basically the only way is to actually try and build one. it would have been nice for each icon in the create new engine menu to show the block required beforehand

Nope....select the engine you want to create and try to add the block, it will tell you exactly the block needed for the engine you chose to build, it's really not that much of a bother.

But, say i have a block that i got from the junkyard, depending on the block i may have to try to create 3 or 4 engines before i get the right one. seems inefficient,

All you have to do is go to the block holder, select the engine you want to BUILD, then when you go to place the block it will tell you the block needed to build it...and all the other parts needed as you continue to build it. Add me on steam and we can jump in discord and I can explain it in full if you want.

i know HOW to build an engine. Your suggestion works if you are deliberately going out to create a specific engine but i just think that it's daft that they don't state the engine block needed BEFORE you try and build an engine (i.e. in the graphic for each engine).

if i have Engine Block (V8 OHV G) there are loads of engines that it COULD be used for but probably only 1 or 2 engines that it CAN be used for meaning that you have to try and create each V8 until you find an engine that the block works with.
