what is the purpose of warehouses?
doesn't seem to be an actual practical use for them.

To store parts that you find in barns, and crates so that your personal inventory isn't filled with a bunch of things you won't be using for a while.

I tried to use it the way as said above. Too many items and the game engine will go haywire the same way as overfilled inventory. So, of no practical use.

just seems like an added shuffle step to inventory management with no payoff. if you could access equipment in the warehouse while working on a car that would be great, but you have to go hunt stuff down, and to add insult to injury you can't access your parts list while looking through the warehouse. game is seeming really cool, especially once i got the second lift and started visiting barns and the junkyard... but there's some quality of life things about the game that are aggravating to the extreme.

When I was working on orders, I would empty my personal inventory at the start of an order, putting all my other parts in the warehouse. It makes it easier to check you have all the easily overlooked parts on the car (like clips, piston rings, bushings, etc...) if my inventory was empty, there were no missing parts on the car.

The warehouse has slots that can be re-named to whatever you wish. I had slots named Body, Suspension, Engine, Exhaust, crates/maps, etc and would store parts in their slots to keep it organized, didn't take long at all to find a part that I was looking for.

Now that I'm beyond the point of needing to do order parts, I only use it to store parts for expensive cars that I find laying around barns and the junk yard as well as unused maps and chests.

It would be nice if you could access via the tablet like any other 'parts store' but for the most part is does exactly what its designed to do, which is keep your personal inventory low without have to flat out sell items you won't be using for a while, which was a problem with previous versions of the game.

Plus there's is the added bonus that no one is requiring you to actually use it if you don't like it.

i sell a lot of parts. if i can't repair it, it gets sold.

My warehouse currently only has +5 parts that I use on Restoration jobs, and barn parts that are in 100% condition after repair, anything else gets sold.

And I'm very selective on what barn parts I pick up, but I *do* always pick up the chests.

speaking of, i'm assuming later in the game you'll be able to repair everything, right? seems odd you can buy damaged parts that can't be repaired.

There is a guide that tells what can and cant be repaired. I've found it accurate.

Some people like to buy a scrap car and then rebuild it with scrap components to make it complete. What they do with the complete scrap car after is up to them. I had a scrap car with every component in the red just above 14%, it was just for fun.

Use it / organize it any way you like... use your imagination. A couple of slightly less obvious examples:

- use one section for scavenged repairable parts, one section for premium parts from crates, one section for spare new parts, one section for used non-repairable parts...

-use one section per restoration project. Want to start working on another car before you're finished the current one? Put all the parts you've removed from the current one into it's own warehouse section. That way when you're working on and buying parts for the new project you know everything in your inventory is from it.

etc.

problem is you can't use stuff in the warehouse. so you are better off with it in your inventory and using the inventory systems built in sorting and filtering system. you can't even access your parts list in the warehouse. just buying things straight from the store just-in-time and as-needed, and keeping stuff in your inventory instead of the warehouse are both superior options to using the warehouse. there doesn't seem to be any benefit to using it at all.

Just because you don't find it useful doesn't mean it's useless for everyone else.

Its a great benefit for the way I play, it was a highly requested feature in previous versions of the game, and you always have the option of not using it.

how does using the warehouse benefit the way you play compared to just using the inventory? i'm not seeing how it's not more beneficial to just keep it in your inventory. Am I missing something?

I use the warehouse to store parts that I find in barns, crates, and the junkyard that I might want to use in vehicle restorations.

I only keep crates, maps and items that are +5, or repaired to 100%, everything else gets sold.

If, for example, I find an engine block that will fit in a car I might want to restore in the future, I repair it and throw it in the warehouse so that it isn't sitting in my personal inventory for days, sometimes weeks.

I could easily just sell the block, but I don't see the point in selling it for a couple hundred bucks today, if I know I'm going to buy it again for a few thousand at a later time... that's just a waste of money; and I don't see the point in kerping it in my pocket if I'm not using it on my current project.

If I didn't find the warehouse useful, I wouldn't use it, but I don't like having my personal inventory stuffed with Items I won't be using anytime soon. So for me, it serves its intended purpose.
