While on any regular order you can finish the job usually without running this test, when it's a story mode job, you HAVE to run that test so the piston rings updates.
MAKE SURE to save your game before running the compression test... just in case it freezes during the test.
Also on story mode jobs you NEED to place the parts that needed replacement with 100% parts. so make sure to make use of those little stars you have on the list to highlight the parts that needs to be 100%.
Story mode jobs are way trickyer than regular orders... or regular orders you can swap parts... on story mode, if you do so, you may get screwed badly... so make sure to be very careful while doing them. And (if memory serve) as parts marking does not work on the engine stand, and parts are not updated until you put back the engine in the car, for story mode cars, either you fully rebuild the whole engine 100% on the stand, or you simply work the full repair with the engine on the car.
I have been caught out by the missing parts...double check that everything is there :)
