its what i did
I just put on a playlist of my favorite music, and took all the quick jobs involving brakes, exhaust, and transmission, nothing with engine work or story missions. I managed to get to level 30 after 28 hours playing the game. It took me about 5-6 days, but now Im enjoying restoring cars for cash and it makes me cringe when I think about taking another order. haha
Else people keep spamming "bugs" on this forum because they can't find a part...
First of all: Nice all caps thread title. Shows just how upset you are.
Second: Do you actually know how hard it can be to restore a car, from any condition, to new? It ain't easy.
Let me put it this way:
You've just opened your own shop, that's great. You're now in crippling debt from buying the building and tools.* On top of that, you're new in the area and customers don't automatically trust the new guy.
So, you get some business going, good for you. Now you can finally afford** that addition to your shop.
Oh, you want to buy a project? Well . . . on average, where I live anyways, any car in somewhat decent condition's about $2,500US. So, you've got that right? Okay. Now you drop $40,000*** into restoring it. In the end, it's worth $15,000US.
This game lets you off easy.
* Seriously, google it.
** Loans, and more debt.
*** And that's if you do all the work yourself, which most people cannot.
(Getting real sick of people complaining that their simulation game is too hard because it's even remotely close to how things work in the real world.)
Ohh look its the supposed real life super cool mechanic coming in to compare RL with a game that barely resembles it at all.
Since release this has been an issue and a complaint. Yet super cool comes in here to show how rought and tough he is cuz real life is a ♥♥♥♥♥.
No one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about every last RL detail about mechanics because truth is this is one of the lowest paid garbage professions you can work. On that fact alone this game should NOT have restoring cars at all since thats what 99.9% of mechanics dont do.
This is a game where you unlock a welding machine, one of the very earliest of tools any decent shop should have at the end of the game. Was a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ design decision that wasnt thought out at all and really doesn't need the grind defense squad to defend it. You like the game thats fine but you dont have to protect poor featured and badly thought out game design.
Devs fumbled and dont want to fix, pretty clear since ive been here at release. Last CMS i buy too.
Honestly, those few bucks.
Go onto the street and ask people if you can wash the car. Do errands for people or anything else.
"No one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about every last RL detail about mechanics because truth is this is one of the lowest paid garbage professions you can work."
You go tell that to your local mechanic. I bet you'll see real quick just how much you take us for granted. Also, average is $17.00US an hour. What does your job pay?
"On that fact alone this game should NOT have restoring cars at all since thats what 99.9% of mechanics dont do."
*Or And if you really think this, then you don't know a damn thing about car culture.
"This is a game where you unlock a welding machine, one of the very earliest of tools any decent shop should have at the end of the game."
Believe it or not, most shops that deal with modern vehicles will do everything they can to avoid welding on a customer's car. Insurance reasons mainly, but my point still stands.
I'm not trying to "protect poor featured and badly thought out game design." as you think I am, I'm merely saying that some of the features a number of players seem to think are poor design are actually how things work in certain places.
Dealerships don't have welders, most don't have paint booths, none that I know of have dynos. (though we can't use thme yet.) Unless you've won the lottery, you're not building a shop with all of the above from the get-go. And if you did, I sure hope you hired some experienced staff.
Oh wait, you think this profession is garbage . . . Maybe go replace a fuel pump, then get back to me.
Lol why did you want to play this game then? I think most people who would play a mechanic simiulator would care about at least some RL detal about mechanics?
I think one point would be that the junkyard doesn't necessarily have to be locked out completely in the early phase of the game. There's no reason you couldn't buy a car and get it working even if you can't repaint it, or weld it etc. However the decision to withold full restoration till the end makes sense just because of all of the stuff you are required to have in a shop to do it. But the devs chose this way for a reason, to build you up in skills.
Some people even with different high paying jobs, still restore cars in their free time, so not every one thinks it's as terrible I guess... It's one of the more useful jobs that people can do for a society given the importance of transportation. Also owning a shop can be very profitable, because even though the mechanic might only get 18$, shop hours are often at 85-100$ hr.
