salem flamo
i'm working on a salem flamo, i think it's called. the guy said it won't start, and when it did work, it made strange noises, and that he'd wake the neighbors every morning. i replaced the ignition coil, spark plugs, battery, mid and rear mufflers. there's one part that i haven't discovered yet, but i can't for the life of me figure out what it is. i've had the whole top end of the motor apart, starter, alternator, water pump. nothing registered. anybody know or have an idea what i'm missing?

sounds like gearbox, maybe strip gearbox down remove everything from it. if it not gearbox maybe the pistons if that the case, well going maybe strip all of engine.

sorry, codeyb1234, i did replace the fuel filter, too. had the entire air box off. i didn't check the gearbox, or take the crank or pistons out. thanks, yuzuki. i'll try that.

Checked the fuel pump? It always causes engine dramas but it is very easy to miss because it isn't in the engine bay, all too often I've torn an engine down to the block trying to find that last issue only to realise it is the fuel pump which takes 5 seconds to swap.
If you havent already, use the examining tool and look for stuff that you havent examined. Ive been in this situation a number of times with customer orders and basically just looked around the car until I found it. It was usually a rubber bushing, but that is in the suspension so I doubt that it would be your problem.

Thats a good suggestion. If you have the tool for testing fuel flow, use it!

the fuel pump should have been the next logical place to look, but i just never thought of it. i don't have all the examining tools yet. still fairly new to the game. i did replace the fuel pump, and that was it. thanks for all the help.

It could also be a fan in the radiator. I have had that as a knocking noise.........?

I took everything apart for the most part till I found the Fuel Pump in the back of the car on top of the fuel tank. So dumb!.. had nothing to do with the description or other areas of the car having issue. Way to throw a curve ball there. Hope this helps others.

Resurrecting this old post to say this mission appears to have a bug. I have dumped the oil twice and put new oil in each time but it still tells me I need to do an oil change (is a red X rather than a green check).
EDIT: Nevermind, you have put in way past half full for it to count
