Can you only get this by using Examine Mode? or does the tools like Electronic Meter count towards it?

My stats say I have examined 2 parts, and I have 947 hrs in-game play time, so, good question!

Both Profiles

Okay so the tools did nothing I used all the tools and it still said 220

but when I used the examine tool it went up to 221

so the tools don't count you have to examine the parts without the tools

It is a bit naughty for the players who started at the beginning and don't actually need to examine now we have the proper tools. However, as an experiment I've been examining a few parts after completing work jobs just to see how much effort it is. I'm quite surprised as I got the silver award today without trying too hard. I only do it when doing exhaust or gearbox jobs as the things to examine easily are suspension and exhaust parts. So, yes, it's extra work, but it's not a big deal really - not like the fixing cars achi, I must've fixed more than the 375 required by now, I suspect a bug there!

I thought it was using examine mode, as I use it for inspecting brakes without having to pull the wheels on anything with spokes. I got Silver a long time ago... I also use it on the lower AF housing instead of pulling it depending on my mood.

I had no idea you could do that! I never realized most of the parts that don't show up in other test can be examined manually.

I've done all of the above and I'm still at 2 parts examined, so, there must be something wrong on my end!

If you're referring to the "stats" on the opening menu screen where you swap profiles, it lies.

Hasn't read proper for me from the get go. The stats are still working proper internally in the game engine from what I can tell as I continue to get acheivements OK. That particular page has shown numbers occasionally, but every update seems to send them scurrying to make way for the 0s.

I'm not crazy about stats, but I am curious to know just how busy I've been...

Cheers..!

Well, by now I would have unlocked Gold, but I haven't unlocked anything...LOL

I couldn't tell you if I've examined 1,000 anything in particular.

It sure feels like it though... ?B)

i think only manually examined parts count towards the achievements. My stats page said 995 examined i then used every test and didn't get silver. I manually examined five parts and got silver.. Have fun, happy examining

It is only Manuel's examining of parts that counts, yes.
