What is the point of the junkyard?
It was a lot of fun to explore the junkyard and barn finds.... The first time. But once you realize you can buy every part from the computer anyway, it immediately looses its magic. The only practical purprose of the junkard is to find a car to restore. So why implement the ability to search and buy every inch of the junkard for random junky parts?

If this was truely a simulator--not every classic car part would be available and ready to buy online. And then you would truely have to search the junkyard for those missing pieces. Then it would make showing off your restorations much more rewarding and maybe even impliment a feature where you can sell/trade the car with other users of the game. Thats just wishful thinking there but still, unless I'm not using the junkards right, those and the barn find features and completely useless and a waste of your time to explore.

Simple.

Some people don’t want to buy parts they can find in the junkyard.

They want to repair every repairable part and only buy parts that have to be bought new.

IDK, mate, I find being in junkyard quite entertaining. lots of parts you could find, repair and sell or use on your cars. But best part is to find some rusty rarity and restore it to its shiny glory :)

Basically junkyard is good means to save a dollar not buying new parts in the shop.

I also regard all additional locations as a way to switch from repairs and restorations to some other activity. Makes the game less boring

The point of the junkyard is to look for project cars and parts. :)

I personally have a couple of warehouses filled with the poorest condition body parts I can find so I can make my beater collection, the little bit of cash from repairing found items also help cover the costs of my restorations. Simply put, it is what you make it.

Is it really true that you can referbish old parts yourself? I'm a level 20 so I do have a little bit of play time in, and I've never been able to do that sort of thing... I even have my garage updated and everything. There is a work bench there and no matter what it always tells me "there is no item to repair" even when I have junk parts in my inventory... So I just thought it was a formality... or space filler... Or a place you could only work on very specific/ unique parts that youll usually never encounter...

How do I use the work bench then?

default, not all parts can be repaired, and the higher youi get in the ranks the more parts can be repaired.
also have a look in the modding forum, there is a mod to let you repair anything...

if I remember right parts have to be at least 15% to repair might be a little lower but only by 1 or 2 percent.

These days you can 3d print any part required with CNC machines and so forth. You should always have the option to replace new or find old items in junkyards to repair or use to create cheaper fixes.
These are all just different options you can take and i personally like the freedom of choice.

They might have a difference in old parts in barns and junkyards as originals where newer replacement parts particularly for older model cars might be fabricated as a replica, they look and do the same thing as the original but were not made at the same date by the same company or changing manufactuing techniques. I don't think its that technical in the game tho.

Not everyone farms the system to get enjoyment.

Simple, buy every single junk car possible and never fix them
