Do tyres affect vehicle handling?
In CMS15, different tyre types would affect grip, with racing tyres and slicks making your vehicle less likely to freewheel and spin out. Is the same true in CMS18? Are "Racing" tyres better for racing, for example?

Furthermore, does wheel size affect grip and steering? For instance, if I use really wide front wheels, will that make the vehicle harder to steer and more prone to understering? Would very small tyres make it unstable? Does any of this even matter, or is it just cosmetic?

I'm not sure yet, you can test it out of course with some wheels if you have the money.

Based on what I've seen so far "based" I'll say most likely not just an assumption and only A$$es assume

From what I've learned, my cars seem to have worse handling with different tires. Such as drag tires can barely do turns compared to sport and vintage tires

well....drag tires are ment for straightaways, they are not ment for cornering....

Right, but is that really modelled into the game? How do individual tyre types stack up against each other? Does tyre siza matter at all? In CMS15, I could simply open the text file where tyres are defined and see those values, but I can't find either engine or tyre definitions anywhere.

I've increased the rear tyre width and changed them to slicks and it seems like the RWD handles much more torque in more managable manner but I haven't done any serious testing.

Size always matters as my misses would say, more grip on the road more power to the ground.
I would naturally put a thinner tire on the front end for tighter turning and a thicker one for more handling at the sacrifice of the turn circle but it depends on your drive and how you intend to drive it, is it front wheel or rear wheel drive or 4wd, in case of a 4wd your probably looking for a balanced width where drag racing doesn't require turn circles for anything else but parking yet they use a thinner light wheel to save on weight and use aerodynamics to force the car downward at high speeds but are prone to flipping at high speeds or if a gust of wind pops up durring a race. The massive fat wheels on the back are needed to give that powerfull engine traction or it would just spin a burnout and never gain grip or just flip off the track wildly.

I haven't tested it in game on track but the cost of increasing the size of a tire certianly makes a huge difference when it comes to repairs and sales.

But is that the result of the wider tyres or the fact that you went to Slicks? Tyre type has had an effect on the car since CMS15, but I'm not convinced that width does.

More expensive isn't necessarily better, though. The customised license plate costs ten times what the uncustomised does but it has no effect on performance. Since resale value is based on the cost of items put on the car, more expensive parts mean more profit. It's why Performance parts matter even if you don't intend to drive the car.
