To what extent is there customization of cars?
I don't have paint shop yet, but I was trying to experiment and swap engines. But the car seems to be locked to the engine it came with? Is there a point this ability becomes unlocked?

Main reason I am disappointed or confuses is that the main screenshot of the game shows the DOHC V8 in a classic car. But I cannot do anything no matter my testing?

As I understand it, currently all cars have only a single build. No swapping of motors, or replacing with high performance parts. Just whatever the game has decided belongs in each car. I seem to recall the devs saying they'll be fixing it so you can soup up your ride, but right now, they've got more important bug squashing to do first.

Thanks, I was sort of expecting that to be part of the game. Hopefully bug quashing goes soon, fumigate the release. Disappointed cause I went to junk yard and saw a Flamo near a Reptila R2. My creativity went wild, to be disappointed.....

What made it worse is before committing, I wanted to inspect and test. So I saved, did a bunch of work, found out it wouldn't. Went to reload save after hopping about and it had saved some other way.... Hopefully I can get these two junkyard beaters running and sell to get back to the coin I had...

Yeah, I feel you. I'm wanting to get my hands dirty with the restorations right now as well, but the devs have publicly apologized for this atrocious release and are trying to make things right. I think RPS said it best when they reported, "This is the best game that I'd suggest NOT playing... At least not yet."

On a positive note, money comes along pretty easily. Just do some digging through the junk yads and buy everything that's green, head back to the garage and immediately sell it for a huge profit. If you've got good repair skills, you can really make some bank. I've also been doing pretty good just sticking with the story jobs. They're BIG jobs most of the time, but I usually get about 20k each one.
