How do YOU make a profit
Title says it all really. I'll start

I take the jobs that require anything with gearbox issues as some can net me a profit between 5-10k such a fast and easy job too.

@Vamprrr

I've read some bollocks in my time but Jesus man, you've topped it. For someone who can comment on someone's post on how they should title it, and then go on and on about a lot but says nothing... that's right - nothing

Bore off

I repair gearboxes and gain a massive profit

I repair brake pads and make little profit

I simply was interested on others in their methods

@Bjcomings

This wasn't meant to be a rant or anything. I think you got me wrong there.
I just wanted to point out that if all balance-fixes are in it might be easier to make profit.
And as of now you would get the most out of junkyard/auctions.
Maybe you misunderstood, maybe I didn't phrase it out was intended (as English is not my mother's tongue).
And the pun was just to fit into most posts here.
So ... relax some, buddy. Sorry to not fit your requirements for a constructive answer.

Just saw that now. There you clearly got me wrong because I may have chosen the wrong words. It was more a "I think you meant" because the profits of the former (expenses + bonus) wouldn't be what you looked for. Dunno if you know what I mean.
Whatever. Have fun though.

Easiest way to make money is to go to the junkyard, Grab every part you can find and buy them.
Then when you are back in your garage, just sell all the parts you found and you will make about 10x the money you spend on buying those parts.
You don't even need to repair the parts, but if you have good repair skill you might increase your profit even more.

Wow!, vamprrr genuinely said nothing negative about what you're doing at all.

Simply put, they just broke down how earning money works on standard jobs then explained that it is/will be better once barn/junkyard finds are priced better, in which case you'd buy a cheap car, restore it and sell for profit.

Ahahahahaha. Great post. :D
"I went out shopping for a spark plug. Look at the car I bought us."
I think your wifey wouldn't be happy to see you going that way.

Thanks, bfg. I was worried I wrote down stuff the wrong way.
But as long as it's the internet there will be misunderstandings. I don't blame Bjcomings for that. Happened to me too often as well. Maybe he'll just reread it and see I didn't try to be offensive there. :)

I usually go to scrapyard and collect branded and complex parts, which are not less than 15% (except for mufflers, wires, filters and belts), then repair them and sell (or stock something really neat in my warehouse).
The more parts are damaged in the customer's car, the more the salary is, so I grab every complex job and receive about 15-20K for each job accomplished.
Also, the cars at the scrapyard are way cheaper (but in worse condition) than at the barns.

Reading back on what I put... welllllll, maybe I overreacted? I'm far from a jerk, I'm an easy going guy, I like to have nice conversations far from arguments.

Happy hunt happy fixing

Nah, it says it's worth 123k only at parking lot, when I move a car to the garage the price changes.
Wait, 1.0.5? It's 1.0.9 already, man.
