What's the best way to make a lot of money/xp?

I know about cheat engine but I don't want to cheat......is fixing cars the only way to make money/xp in game?

Yes, fixing cars through the random jobs is the best way to get XP and money through most of the game. It's not really until you have the fully expanded garage and the max repair level that you would become more profitable buying cars from barn/junkyard finds and fully restoring them.

If you want, there is a built-in cheat code to the game to start at a very late point in the game.

Create a new profile named cms2018promo and you'll skip the tutorial and start with 50,000 xp and $500,000

Transmission replacements and clutch parts seem to be the most rewarding for the time. 4-6k for a trans fix, 8-10+k for trans and clutch parts.

You can make a lot of money selling parts collected from the scrap yard. I made about $40k+ from each visit in parts alone, even without repairing any. Once you get enough to buy a car, rebuild and sell it.

Selling parts, even mostly broke ones, tends to bring in plenty of money, as do more complex jobs.

XP outside of the grind adding/removing parts constantly is in jobs. The generic jobs versus the story jobs, for me so far, seem to only vary a little. For instance, an oil/filter change got me 102 XP while a story mode order involving brakes and engine parts got me something like 150 XP. You can turn over shorter/easier orders fast so you could just cherry pick ones that need basic work done (brakes, oil change).

Of course, working on gearboxes and more extensive orders mean more XP and money (especially when selling parts) but they'll take longer. More fun, in my opinion, but if you want to min/max it probably not the most profitable...maybe higher level jobs will give you more? I'm only at level 17 so...

Techincally, no. Taking parts off and on is also a way. You dont actually have to fix anything to generate exp. You get a bonus amount for completion though.
