Gary Grigsby's War in the West

Gary Grigsby's War in the West

Turned off combat reports?
Hi, i'm a veteren of war in the east but i've never run into this issue before. I think i've clicked something that turned off the battle reports when you attack, the one at the top of the screen that shows losses. How do I turn that back on? It's not a big issue, just a weird one and makes it harder to see how an attack goes.

Thanks

Press numbers 1-3-5-7 to change levels of details. At level 1 you see nothing, at level 7 every single battle takes like 6 minutes because it shows the entire calculation every single time a unit fires at another unit, including when shells bounce off tanks instead of penetrating. It can take like 15 minutes if you are resolving some gigantic fighter battle over Germany.

You should always be able to see the battle reports at any time by clicking on the "Show battles" option in the toolbar (it cycles from no battles, to air battles/ground battles only, to show all battles). turning Show Battles will make a bunch of little tank/fighter symbols appear on the map. Click on them to see the battle report.

I can provide pictures of where that button is in the interface if you want.

'Shift+P' will open User Preferences. Select the Combat Resolution Message Level that you desire. Selecting '0' will turn the messages off. Selecting '1' will display only a minimum level of information and also prevent any message windows for recon air missions. Higher numbers present more detailed info and increase the time needed to resolve your turns.
Thank you! That explains it, very useful, thank you for your help
