oh you mean half the world in a war that claimed millions of lives and had some of the most brutal and bloody battles in all the US forces fights during WW2?

wow that sure is small. 26000 us casulaties in iwo jima sure is small

50000 US Casualties in okinawa sur is small

half of all US casualties IN ww2 inflicted by japan and its puppets sure is small

The War in the Pacific scenario also contains the China, Russia's Far East, Manchuria, Korea, Dutch East Indies, Phillippines, India, Australia etc...

Millions of soldiers were involved. The Island Campaign of the US is just one part.

Go to matrixgames.com, look at the forums (scroll down) and look for the game called "War in the Pacific : Admirals Edition". That is the most hardcore Pacific WWII game you could ever want.
40 mile hexes, check
1, 2 or 3 day turns, check
every ship that were present, check
playable as Japan or the Aliies, check
air, land and naval combat, check
land units with various equipment, check
different kind of units for land, air an naval, check
leaders for all units, check
named pilots for your planes, check
skills for all your pilots, check
add in a ton of other "checks" as well :)

Also, a very helpful and friendly community on that forum, so you can ask questions and get helpful replies.
Look at/read thoroughly some of the AARs there, and you will see that all I have said here is true.

So, if you want a hardcore game about the Pacific War, that game will satisfy you :)

Because WitP:AE has it covered. There are folks who haven't played anything else since it was released.

Why make such a comment when you clearly know nothing about the game ?

i did some research. Japan is the only axis faction in the game and all its puppets territories are treated as actual provinces of japan when they should be their own countries

Manchuko, Siam etc. were 100% puppets. They had zero independence and were directly controlled by Japan. Especially Manchuko and Korea. There is imho no real benefit to differentiate between Japan and e.g. Manchuko.

The Allies are different: China, US, Soviet Union, Canada, France, British Empire, Australia, New Zealand, Dutch, Phillipines are treated as independant nations with their own navies, troops, production, manpower and pilot pools.

Yes dear.
The INA is filled out with Mongolian/Thai/Vietnamese/Vichy/Chinese/IMA troops just like the Netherlands army is made up of US Marines.
Have fun trying to get the IMAF squadrons anywhere near combat ready. Though if you spend the PP to replace the puppet commanders and give the pilots 2 years trainig at 100% you can get Imperial Japanese"chinese" fighters that are equally as useful as their straight out of flightschool japanese partners.
There are only two factions in the game , allied and axis.
The Free French forces can not be played as a seperate faction, oh the horror

Yeah, you're right. Thanks to your post I've had an epiphany.

I will never play War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition again because it has now occurred to me that I can't play the game as a giant squid jetting around the Pacific whilst the war rages above me.

WitP:AE truly lacks depth and immersion. Pun intended.

Because War in the Pacific Admirals Edition has it covered and its unlikely any other game soon will reach what is probably one of the greatest achievements in wargaming history.

Which doesn´t mean that heavily overhauling WITPAE including but not limited to its interface and accessibility especially for new players and players with less time wouldn´t be a super awesome thing which would prompt me to immediately throw my money at the screen.
