Well after I installed patch for 4:3 res steam stopped to recognize me playing. Finished all routes and all sub-stories.

If I were 10 years younger maybe Dies might be 9/10 or 10/10 for me, but as for today I just didn't feel much while reading. A lot of themes that I've seen in other anime titles, weak main fem characters(compared to FSN), battles as emotional porn, and 100 hours vn with so much pathos just made me feel exhausted. Also if it wasn't shounen it would be better vn for me.

Still if I were a some game journalist I would probably score it as 9\10 cuz cool characters, interesting analysis of their personalities, sometimes not bad philosophy and so on, but since all my scores just mostly my personal feelings, so...

7.5\10.

Negatives: Dies Irae, is an amazing VN, but it felt like it iterated on the narrative aspect a bit too much which is one of it's greatest strengths and weaknesses, but they should've paced those scenes with the action scenes a bit better. Also, it had some fluff that kind of didn't need to be in the VN, while lengthening some parts significantly, making them much longer than they needed to be.

Positives: In terms of characterization however Dies Irae is amazing, everyone's character arc was resolved in a manner that exceeded my expectations, even for characters that I had low to no expectations for narratively which was surprising. Also, everything was planned, from how the VN was structured, to the characters and the setting, all of it was explained and formatted in a way that showed exemplary care for the narrative.

The philosophical undertones and how the character's worldviews clash with one another (figuratively and literally) and how we as the readers gain insight and understanding of worldviews that we might not particularly agree with, which by proxy immerses us into the plight of the characters and the setting itself.

The voice acting and musical direction of Dies Irae is insane the voice actors went above and beyond, especially the voice actors for characters like Wilhelm and Schreiber.

Overall in my opinion Dies Irae is a 9/10 with the main issue being with how some scenes were paced.

3. Marie's route 8/10

4. Kasumi with common route 7/10

TLDR: Nazi Sorcerers using their individual philosophies as physical weapons attempting to commit a global scale holocaust for Nazi Jesus to grant their wish. 9.5/10

P.S. Number 2: Books that give more context to the philosophical undertones in the VN. Make sure to read after you’ve finished the Vn so as to not spoil yourself. Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Dies Irae, Marie Antoinette Road to the Guillotine, and Faust a Tragedy.

FATE/STAY Night but with Time Traveling Nazis. Play with Patch.

After more than a year, two full resets from the start and some tears I've finally completed this monster. It was the first VN I've finished in its entirety, and I can not be happier with the experience.
Despite being known as "that VN with the magic powerlevel nazis", Dies Irae offers so much more than that. As Mercurius clearly states at the start: this opera's script is the height of cliche yet the characters are amazing. Love them or hate them, you'll walk out of the theatre with at least one or two favorites.

An individual is but a spark within the conflagration of life. But that is why we should always look up and face forward. And believe that there is meaning to every moment.
So let's drink to the ephemeral, and to reality.

One of the best visual novels I have ever read

I loved the prologue’s presentation (Evil Nazi jumps to the modern day) and how over-the-top the power scaling got (it could even beat Goku)—it was crazy and epic as hell. But I’m not going to lie, most of the narrative was sluggish as sh1t too, which really harmed the flow of the experience.

Imagine just 3 seconds in the game, the protagonist or every character gives me long-winded 10+ monologues with anything of value. It did enhance my experience a bit, but it would've been way better with some cuts. Also, the first half of every route felt kind of the same.

I would really like to give it a mixed review, but I can't. It's not that bad, but I also wouldn't recommend it to anyone, tho.

Not gonna lie, the final fight’s artwork was peak. I really liked it.

Masada stands light years ahead of everyone else as a chuuni writer, one can only be awestruck at the sheer insanity he just have conjured on paper.
