Depth of the game¿?
I just bought this game. Don't know yet how to play, and I never played boardgame version. I would like to know how deep and replayable is the game

Regards.

It's not hard to learn how to play; the depth comes from playing everything well. Backstabbing intrigue; taking things away at just the right time to keep your opponents from getting VP's takes a bit of practice and watching cards and cubes (commonly called adventurers).

While the play mechanics are simple the game is not. There's so many things you can do each turn but you can only do ONE or TWO things (if you have the proper quests completed) Mostly it's one thing per turn in an EIGHT ROUND game.

You have to choose carefully and wisely to move into the ranks of the best players. Think of it like trying to become a chess master. For some it takes years and years of practice; for others a small amount ot time because they are geniuses from birth.

The main concept is to get more VP's than your opponents and the avenues to that conquest are great and can be shrunk in a moments notice if one of them plays a "mandatory quest" on you.

If you are inexperienced you will have a glorious time vs this AI; it's one of the best in the history of AI's. When you become experienced enough vs the AI's you'll move up to multiplayer and face the geniuses of the world. ;) Don't let this scare you; there aren't that many I just wanted to make it dramatic for you. :) There's novices in multiplayer as well that won't be any more experienced than you are. :)
Interesting. I'm a little competitive, and depth games are interesting for me because sometimes tournaments/leagues and so on.. move around it. I bought at the same time I bought twilight struggle.

Thanks for your detailed explanation, I appreciate it.

NP glad to help and if you have any other questions feel free to ask; there are many here more experience than me; including the AI hahah

Was wondering the same. 8 Rounds total? I mean...does it really make for a compellng strategy with 8 turns?

8 Turns "subdivided" between the "minions" you have to place (3 at start, 4 from middle game). Has much more depth than what I thought. It's totally worth the game IMHO

Definitely. Rounds. Turns.

Eight rounds. Dozens of turns.

Hundreds of compelling, strategic decisions. :AWESOME:

As a worker placement game, it is pretty light. It is nearer the Stone Age end of the scale than it is the Caylus end. A good gateway game, I'd say.

I bought at the same time I bought twilight struggle.

It has nowhere near the depth of Twilight Struggle.

If there were more rounds, the players would be less in conflict with each other, as everyone would be able to achieve everything they wanted to. Thus, luck of the draw would have a bigger impact on the winner, which is always bad. The rounds being so limited actually makes each decision more meaningful.
