Game Running Faster Than Intended?
Strikey Sisters seems cool but for some reason it seems to be running faster than intended on my rig.

In the opening cutscenes, the voice lines trigger too fast without the appropriate pauses and consequently talk over eachother the whole time. During actual gameplay, the ball moves MUCH faster than in gameplay videos I've seen on Youtube, making for an extremely difficult game as it's almost impossible to react fast enough.

Is this a known issue and is there an easy fix?

No, it's not normal, and it's the first time I've been reported this issue. Could you please record a gameplay video and upload it anywhere? I would need to see what's happening.

Also, please, tell me your computer specs and operative system.

After some investigation, this issue seems to be related to your graphics card "vsync" setting. Another user told me that this happens in fullscreen only (I don't know if that's your case) and when he has "fast vsync" setting enabled on his graphics card.

It's also an issue related to the latest runtime of GameMaker Studio 2, so for now, I can't find a proper solution.

I'll keep you informed.

Sorry I missed your previous message...

So, as I understand it, "fast sync" is a feature of nvidia cards and not AMD cards like the one I'm using (RX 580). This makes it a bit mysterious as to how to troubleshoot.

I tried virtually every possible setting under my profile for Strikey Sisters and none of them improved the problem. When I turned on "adaptic sync" it did speed things up even worse, so I turned it off again.

I'll get you a video and my specs in a bit.

In a new update I uploaded recently, you can press key 0 on your keyboard to enable / disable vsync in the game. Please, try that and let me know if that solves your issue.

YES! That did the trick! Really enjoying the game now that it's running at normal speed. Thanks for all your help!

Just FYI, for some reason when I went to play again last night, the game was running too fast again, and the 0 key was having no effect. I recorded a video of the game running this way if it's any help:

https://youtu.be/W-oLkaEP-2Y

I'm on Windows 7 with an intel I7 processor, AMD RX 580 gpu, and 8gb ram. I can post more detailed specs later if it'd help.

Fortunately, after some experimentation, I realized that if I used the 2 key to cycle through screen sizes, it restores the game to normal speed. So I was able to solve the problem through a different workaround, it's just weird that the 0 key stopped working.

This is probably already on your to-do list, but if the v-sync toggle were added as an item to the options menu at some point in the future, it'd be a more user-friendly solution to the issue.

Thanks again for your help, and good job on the game!

P.S. Is the v-sync problem a potential issue in Bot Vice and Super Star Path? Now that I'm enjoying Strikey Sisters I'm interested to try your other games. Even if the issue's present I'm willing to buy them anyway as long as there's some workaround.

This issue also happens in Bot Vice and probably on Super Star Path. On Bot Vice you can also press the key 0 to disable/enable vsync. I'll add it as an option within the game as soon as I can, but I'm super busy these days!

Yes, I understand you must have a lot to do... no pressure. Keep up the good work!

Well, I made an effort and updated the game to v1.0.18 with the following changes:

- New option to enable/disable V-Sync within the game.
- New window size mode: Stretch.
- Minor fixes.

Please, try the game now in fullscreen without changing v-sync. If it still doesn't work out of the box, then you can change v-sync within the settings menu or pressing the key 5 on your keyboard. Keys from 1 to 5 are shortcuts for some options, as explained here.

I really hope everything is working as expected now!

Awesome, thanks for getting v-sync into the menu so quickly!

I seem to have it working as expected now. At first I caused myself some confusion because I assumed I wanted v-sync to be "off". But actually it seems like the game runs too fast with v-sync set "off" and I actually want it to be set to "on" to run at normal speed.

Either way once I set things correctly, the now seem to save correctly so I don't have to redo it every time I start the game. Also, now that it's in the menu, I imagine any new players which run into this issue are more likely to discover the fix on their own.

BTW, did you just add the option to delete your save file? I didn't notice it there before, and it's definitely nice to have when taking a co-op buddy through the game for the first time.

The "delete save file" option was always there, but the previous options menu was too bloated. Now it's a bit more comfortable to navigate, hehe...
