Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition

Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition

How was this game supposed to be controversial? (Possible spoilers)
For one the game isn't gory at all with the closest being the ninja vampires blood-sucking devices and even that looks cheap, the "sexual themes" were about as risque as an episode of Saved by The Bell (Teenage girls in pajamas singing a goofy musical number is on the same level as a porno?), and the only somewhat twisted thing was the player having the option to kill the girl at the end.

I could understand things like Mortal Kombat but Night Trap? There were episodes of Are You Afraid of The Dark that were way more unnerving.

It was because of its "realistic nature", using recordings of real people. Also, you should just use the spoiler tag so others can participate in the discussion. I haven't played this game yet myself.

It was the 90's man. The moral majority (more like minority) was coming in strong. This was the start of the era of Jack Thompson that lunatic. They were offended at everything. I had/still have my Sega CD and I did and still have Night Trap though the 32XCD version. I thought it was hokey and truth be told it's really nothing special. As far as FMV games go, Sewer Shark was way better. I'm sad they haven't re-released that one.

Because people weren't told what the game actually contained. Instead Lieberman just made up a flat out non-existent plot of his own imagination.

if you get people hating on dumb games it distracts them from real issues. they are still using this strategy to this day because people will always be easily distracted.

theres also the person being hanged in the closet and having blood withdrawn, young girls getting attacked by masked invaders...
not that i agree in the slightest.

The whole thing was old people overreacting.
The horror movies we have nowadays are way more disturbing.

Now, the modern versions of Mortal Kombat get a little too realistic.

Back then, it was not serious at all.
