Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition

Im surprised by how difficult this game is
I wasnt expecting this game to be actually challenging. Thought it was just going to be a simple interactive movie, but I've played it for 2 hours and havent seen any endings yet. Keep failing around the 20/25 min mark, and the only checkpoint I get is the one at around 13 mins. So I have to keep replaying the same thing over and over. Its very annoying. Very trial and error. I was trying to watch some of the "movie" to to understand what was going on, but its just not worth it because you will undoubtedly fail. Better to ignore the story, and just focus on trapping the whole time. Kind of takes away from it, idk :/

Some of the "failings" are endings. There are actually more than six different "endings" to the game always have been, and some of the failing ones are pretty good actually and fun to watch. MOST of the ones where Simms disconnects you are not endings though, a few are though too. The deaths are endings if you let them die. Game is meant to be trial and error too though, for me I just catch all the augers and then watch the story in theatre mode, or when I got done and got a perfect game...back in 1992....I would just let them escape and watch the first part of the story, and then start over catch them up to the half way checkpoint (there is only one in the game) and then watch the rest of the story from there and just catch enough augers so the vampires wouldn't disconnect me right after you trap Tony from catching Kelly. You can do it either way and I think if you miss like 8 or more augers you get a disconnect..not positive on that note but it is a good one to keep in mind because, they do not let you miss that many before either the command center disconnects you or the vampires do/game over.

This was avalilble on PC to in 1994/5 on dos,I have the cd's,(and on the Mega CD), it was the same as the 32x version, its always been hard to complete, one thing you don't have to do is swap cd's... :D the first one you need to get is Hallway 1,then the Bedroom I think, In 1995 I did write down every camera in sequence,I can look to see if I still have it,its was in the Mega CD case of the game if anyone wants it but you can find it online by now. Like Ground Zero Texas (Directed by James Ridley too) and Double Switch,Debby Harry(Blondy) is in Double Switch.I do have Night Trap and the 32x version on my Mega CDPI(its a Rasperry PI 3 With RetroPie and Attract Mode and it plays a video of the game fullscreen and move the control pad left ot right to change games. its looks nice... :D

It seems that there are 7 main endings in total.

This thread was made a long time for you, but ill tell you how night trap is,
First of all, im 15 (yes young for this game), so dont expect me to know everything:

There are 7 endings in the game:
1) Cindy gets bitten by Jeff and Victor and Shiela disconnect you
2) Tony gets Kelly and Jeff disconnects the override
3) Kelly gets bitten by Sarah
4) Kelly gets bitten by Victor
5) Kelly gets bitten by Shiela
6) You get a perfect game and capture Kelly
7) You dont capture enough Augers so Victor and Sheila find out about the override and disconnect you.

As the user "Hell Naw!" said, SCAT disconnecting you because of not enough Augers or either Lisa, Ashley, Megan or Danny die isnt an ending, its just a failure.

Second of all, to win this game, do not watch the story, in my opinion thats kind of a distraction, if you get a perfect game you can watch most of the scenes in the Theatre which can be found in "The Basement" option of Night Traps main menu. A golden rule of mine is to pay minimal attention to the story.

Third, closely watch the "Captured" and "Possible" numbers at the bottom right of your screen. If you see the possible number go up, there is an auger somewhere but look quick.

Fourth and this is just a heads up but important for a perfect game, after the 29th auger capture, there are 2 augers that you cant capture but dont panic or retry just yet, watch when Danny goes into the basement, the 2 augers come out again, trap them then.

I just got 80 out of 100 augers, saved all the girls and didn't capture kelly. "You saved all my friends" that was my 2nd try. But then I have played this gamea million times on Mega Cd & 3DO.

I think the key to playing this game is DO YOUR DAMN JOB! If you are watching the girls singing etc, you're not doing your job, you should be doing the rounds and checking for Augers. But also watch out for the house members looking suspicious.

this is nothing some older games like brathe of fire 1 & 2 had you going from one end of the game map to the other and then back to the starting town. also Return to zork was pure logic the finle boss was a chess like game with a wizerd that had two pices :steamhappy:
