Why is Benimaru getting so much screen time?

He is not even the main character, he talks a lot, obnoxious, annoying, a rich brat with a silver spoon in his mouth, he dresses up like a weirdo and yet they are giving him so much of screen time? They are trying to pair him up with Yuri and they made Ryo a pethatic loser. I think this series has officialy gone down hill.

He is the close friend of main character, Kyo. I guess.. and Daimon is man of few words type.. so
he gets more screen time for sure. (talking rubbish) And ya Ryo a pathetic loser.. I don't see how Kyokugen team can lose to female team.. was expecting them to be in final or semi final vs ♥♥♥ team.
Most of the fights are off screen if not just a few sec 1 shot attack etc.. really boring and lame.

They were friends due tot he way they teamed up for the '94 KOF tournament. Benimaru's resentment stems from the competition before that tournament which was matchmaking the best fighters to represent the Japanese team. He lost to Kyo (a rookie at that time), and Kyo also defeated Daimon, so they ended up being in the top 3. Daimon is more of a gentle giant type, so he doesn't hold grudges like Benimaru does with Kyo. This explains the latest episode on how Benimaru personally wanted a rematch, I guess to stroke his ego. Kyo tolerates him a bit somehow.

But I wouldn't underestimate Ryo considering his backstory.

He is very popular in China. He was one of the guest characters (along Terry) to appear in that chinese KOF clone.

I love Benimeru's character. He is the joke character afterall, his job is to give unique dialouge to keep every scene interesting.

Ryu- eh... Ryo is a "loser" simply because we have both Terry and Kyo. Ryo has a very similar personality being a protagonist like character, so he was made a little more comedic to give more unique scenarios. I loved the scene when he broke his motorcycle and had to use a cute little bike. He was so determined to do what he has set out to do, no matter what silly position he is in. He still fits his character, so I really like Ryo in this show.

The show isn't going down hill because of the OBJECTIVE BEST BEAUTIFUL GODLIKE CHARACTER BENIMERU but because of the awful filler and the episode "Escape". If SNK keeps this up, they'll ruin an anime that wasn't that good in the first place(but was getting really good).

Ryo personality in KOF: Destiny isn't that far away from cannon. He is old fashioned, blunt and admits he is not very smart. He accepts Yuri growing maturity with bittersweet acquiescence and this is what gave them a lot of comedy through the "anime". Robert is just not that serious. I don't see any problem with them.

The only problem I have with Destiny is that SNK needs to make this a PROPER anime, not 5 minutes per episode.

5 minutes? Take out the filler and drawn out scenes and it's 2 minutes.
