On the other hand. THere is alot of interest in other Space stuff. Alot of 4X games or the Homeworld remaster.
Yeah I know. Also I don't think it's because of the lack of interest that the 2 Kickstarters that failed. It's more of that people don't know what Nexus was and space sim was overshadowed by EVE Online
There is not that much interest because many have no idea about this game. That is where marketing comes into play. How else are ppl supposed to be interested if they have no idea:))
Everyone in here including me heard that somehow the game is updated, I was looking for the game on the web, found it here and bought it.
As long as it will have some sort of modest marketing I do not see a sequel failing in any way IF they keep the quality up and IF the developers really love the IP they bought.
failed kickstarter was because of their lack of publicity and outrageous $656,000 kickstater fund, they could of finished the game with the $161,000 that they got from kickstarter, but choose to just cancel the game.
a. It is and always has been a very obscure niche title, despite it's quality.
b. Massive, massive kickstarter fatigue. People just don't back like they used to in light of depleted wallets and/or high profile failed kickstarters that went nowhere/were scams.
But everyone I know who knows what Nexus is also desperately wants more of it. So there's that at least, we just need to get the word out. Hopefully with the new patch the modding scene will pick up again and interest will grow.
I was terribly disapointed about God's Awaken getting canceled.
Eve online is one big clusterbomb, Elite is a first person no ambition game, "purchase ship skins for a ship you never see in third person- unless you admire it through your hanger".
and I would never pay the cost for ships in Star Citizen, "just ridiculess".
Nexus was one of those gems that snuck under the radar, and its so out of date people want "buy now, win now", and will never appreciate games like Nexus.
I was fascinated by the graphics but I couldn't complete it mainly because of me being a massive noob to RTS back then.
When I entered college, I replayed through Freelancer again then I remembered Nexus. Surprisingly I found this game on Steam and bought it. Then I saw on the News page about Nexus 2. I was flabbergast but then quickly became disappointed as I learned that it wouldn't be realized.
Honestly $600k is a huge goal. The fact it even got $161k is a surprise.
I've sted it so many times One of the many reasons was poor publicity.
They announced it on MODDB website where all the mods for the game where getting attention, thinking that would be enough PR. The problem with that is the game had only a few hundred die hard fans of the game and it wasn't enough.
Second issue was the amount of crowd fund they wanted, if they set it low and used that amount to spend into PR they would of had a beter shot.
They game already had a foundation and working playable concept tech demo.
It ultimately failed due to poor lack in judgement, and bad PR.
