Need serious help with Alphagate
Do you scan the ships with the datascanner on the brutus?

I was able to destroy the flak, weapon gen, shields, engines on the first ship, but one of my destroyers got disabled because I couldnt identify and then take out the flaks then weapon gen of the Pathfinder before that happened.
What is the proper sequence as far as what are you using the reveal devices (with shields down???), then in what order do you attack the devices? It takes so long for the Brutus and Sparta to destroy devices so maybe there is a better one to target first. If I use a datascanner then one of my ships has to lower shields.

A bigger problem for me is the mechanoids keep regenerating. I have turned off weapons on my ships but I have 3 mechanoids flying around my ships (around the Pathfinder) and my Avalanche and Angelwing energy skeeters cant keep them down. As soon as I disable one, one or both of the others reactivate.

This mission is pretty simple and straight-forward. Just scan all the ships and
survive, and that's it.

Start off by scanning the Pathfinder, then the Starblazer, then finally the
Serenity. You can use your Energy Skeeter (use special weapons, F9) on the
Mechanoid if it's getting on your nerves, but it just recharges anyway. You
must wait until each ship is fully scanned.

After that, you can leave the system by engaging your IP Drive (F12) and it's..

MISSION COMPLETE!


Dont destroy the IP drives on the Vardrag ships since this will crash the next mission, but your free to destroy the FLAK and Weapon generators effectivily making them useless.

I know all that...Im asking what is the quickest way to disable the vardrags? How are you scanning them? Taking shields down with datascanner? Youd get destroyed. What do you do when 3 mechanoids are constantly attacking me, I take one down and the other two reactivate constantly.

For handling the Mechanoids, have an energy skeeter on every ship of your flotilla. Lure one out (it comes to you anyway once Angelwing is recognized as non-Mech), shoot it down. One of the others will come to energize it. Keep half your ships on watch for the sleeping one, shooting at it immediately after it gets energized. The other two ships handle the second Mech in the meantime. Rinse and repeat until you have every single Mech further out then 10 clicks of the nearest Vardrag ship.

For scanning the Vardrag vessels, only use the Angelwing. Close in cloaked and under stealth drive, start scanning (with ECM enabled and combat drive), recloak once you feel Angelwing gets too damaged (shut off ECM and switch to stealth drive). Rinse&Repeat until the ship is scanned and continue to the next. This is easier if you managed to lure the Mechs out of Vardrag weapon range, but strictly speaking not necessary.

Don't bother disabling devices/weapons on the Vardrag ships if you don't want to take the time for it. Next mission is scripted anyway to have the Beta Gate station converted to the Mechs, whatever you try. You simply cannot destroy all three Vardrag ships quick enough to not let survivors reach the Beta Station and convert it. At least not on the last 2 difficulty levels.

Ok that interesting. I scanned/reconned the ships using only angelwing, then used all aircraft to take out flaks, then weapon gen then shield/engs. Never used the other ships. I was able to destroy all 3 mechs somehow and once that happens they dont regen

Put energy skeeters on all your ships. First thing disable the closet Vardrag ship, use gunships they the fastest. You'll need three or four squads. Take out the weapon generator or flak first, you decide.

When the mechnoids activate just skeeter them with all your ships eventually they will all be dead, just keep doing it. And with the Vardrag ship weapon offline they can't recharge.

If you want to make the next mission easier disable all the ships weapon and shied generatros and engines. But don't touch the IP drives until you disabled all. If you disable one IP drive the rest will fly off.

Then destroy one ship and the other two will fly off leaving you with two Vardrag ships that can't do anything in the next mission

If you want to break the game, than carefully coordinate disabling the IP drives of two ships and destroying the third. Then destroy the reaming two who are now stuck with broken IP drives.

In the next mission the game will just freeze with no Vardrag ships to trigger anything.
