Thank you for reaching out to us in regards to this wireless controller issue. Can you run Steam in Big Picture mode and configure the controller, then run the game through Big Picture mode.
Can you use a wired connection and see if that works?
Are you using any third party controller software?
Please get back to us when you can,

I ran Steam in Big Picture mode, and I configured my controller, and I ran the game in Big Picture mode. I still can't get the computer to react to my controller at all while the game is running.
After doing the above, I tried Overcooked again, and my controller works just fine. I even get my computer's XBOX menu in-game when I press the Home button. In Escapists 2, not even the Home button does anything. It's like when Escapists 2 is running, my computer can no longer register my controllers.
I unfortunately don't have any wired controllers...I've never needed them before.
As far as I'm aware, I'm not using any third party controller software. And all my controllers are genuine XBOX products.
Thanks for any help,
Pogofox
This is encouraging because it shows that the game CAN handle controller input, but I would love to use my wireless XBOX controllers where the buttons might actually make sense.
Launch Steam Big Picture Mode.
Select the settings in the top right (Cog menu Item)
Select Base configurations.
Then see configure to your needs.
Thanks

Pretty much anything straightforward didn't do anything. However, after I kept messing with it and kept messing with it, I finally fixed it. It was kind of upsetting how much time I had put into trying to get my controllers to work when it was such an easy fix. Five frustrated hours of my life I won't get back....
Anyway, everything worked just the way you would expect it to after I found the executable file on my computer and set it to run in Windows 8 Compatibility Mode. That's all that it needed. In Windows 8 Combatibility Mode, it recognizes the controllers, and configuring the controllers worked just fine (though they no longer needed configuring).
