No Broom Handles in game?

This is just bizarre and I'm sure it's all come down to just bad luck.. But I've yet to find a broom handle in any map. I've played 30 hours, at least 5 different prisons, and I've never found a single broom handle. I've only seen it on a crafting quest, which I've also only gotten once.

I've seen others say they're all over the place in desks. I've searched prisoner desks, random desks, maintenance desks, I've not seen them.

Is anyone else having bad luck with broom handles or any other item?

Also on the Offshore map I've not yet found a piece of string I need for my escape. 14 days in game and have been looking for it since day 1.


Also also: I saw a post from 2017 that said they were dealing with broom handle and glass drop rates. Has this ever been fixed? Have definitely not seen glass either.

We are sorry to hear you are unable to find several items across several prisons in The Escapists 2.

You can find Broom Handles in desks and on unconscious guards. The items are random when they are generated. Please make sure you have checked all the desks in the Prison.

Please ensure you are searching all desks in the prisons (including the ones behind locked doors. Make sure you are checking all the prisoners selling items which can change on a daily basis. Also, try and perform as many favors as possible. If you come across a favor with the item you want, you can keep the item when you cancel the quest.

I've searched many desks, but haven't beaten up too many guards. I'm not very good at the combat so I was trying all the weapons to see if it helped. Then I found the stun gun, so I no longer need a broom handle.

For this playthrough anyways..

Just be careful with the stun gun. It has a limited number of uses.
