Unable to Split Screen After Load or New Game
I am using a Steam Link and two Steam Controllers. The very first time that we played this game we simply pressed start on the second controller when selected characters and were able to play split screen. This was amazing and I expected this would become our new favourite split screen game to play together, loading it up a second time however was a completely different story.

I was unable to get the second controller to connect either when loading the game that we had started previously or when starting a new game, the controller was definately connected to the Steam Link however as we were able to press the Steam button in the center of the controller to load up the Steam interface.

Would anybody please be able to give us help with getting this to work again?

  1. First of all is it even possible to carry on split screening with a game that has been loaded, even if the other character has to start their skills from scratch?
  2. Secondly could someone please explain why we were unable to start a second new game with two controllers?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello MrItachiWeazel

Thanks for reaching out to us with your issue. If you ar trying to split screen in a load game. Load the game with one player then on the second controller press A/X on your second controller.

For a new game ensure both controllers are plugged in and Local Game is selected (In the start new game, customize npcs menu.
Once you load into the Character Select Press A on the second controller and wait for the screen to splitscreen.

If you can get past and start playing then just have the second, third and fourth player select the A/X depending on the controller.

You may want to clear your Steam Download Cache and Verify your Game Files through steam as well.

Get back to us if the issue continues.

Thanks for the reply, I'm using the Steam controllers and not cabled controllers, I'm sure both are connected as I can press the Steam button in the centre to bring up the Steam overlay. When pressing any of hte buttons it doesn't seem to add in the second player, I can just see the bag containing their loot on the floor in their cell.

The same happens when starting a new game, I connect both controllers and am sure of this as pressing the Steam button brings up the overlay. Apart from the first time we loaded the game however we can't pick a second character from the character selection page, this worked the first time but we've been unable to replicate this since.

Thanks

Okay. Can you try with the controllers plugged into your computer? ie a wired connection.

Can you please back up your save game to your desktop - C:\Users\Your PC Name\AppData\LocalLow\Team 17 Digital ltd_\The Escapists 2\Saves.

Then uninstall and reinstall the game.

Thanks for your support.
