First of all, what model or brand of controller is it?
Second, do you have any 3rd party controller drivers/software running in the background whilst you play the game?
Thanks!

Thanks for the information Maxuser!
One last thing to try before I pass this onto the dev team to further investigate:
Let me know if that helps with you situation at all!

Thanks for the additional information Maxuser and for trying out our suggestions. Could you provide us with an output log too? If you don't know how to access the output log, it is located in:
\Steam\steamapps\common\The Escapists 2\TheEscapists2_Data
If you can, upload a copy of the 'ouput_log' file so we can further investigate the issue.
Also, do you experience this issue with any other games on your MacBook Pro?
Cheers!
We're glad to hear you were able to resolve your issue too Calipo, thanks for reporting in!

Hey there!
On Mac the relevant files should be found in either of these locations here:
/Users/XXX/Library/Application Support/Steam
OR
~/Library/Application Support/Steam
OR
You can press 'Go' on the top navbar, hold 'Alt', click 'Library' and then 'Application Support'. Here you will find Steam which should point you in the correct direction of the Steam local files including the 'steamapps' folder. Then simply follow the original directory instructions to find the output log.
Hope this helps!

As an update to this issue, we have been looking into Xbox One controller support on Macbook Pro/OSX. Internally, we have not managed to get the Xbox One controller working natively (on both wired and wireless setups) with the Macbook Pro as there are no official, Apple certified drivers for the controller and 'Plug and Play' does not work. It may be that the controller only works on Steam's interface as the program offers 'generic gamepad support'.
The only way in which you would be able to get the controller to work in-game would be to install 3rd party drivers which we have not tried nor can recommend currently for use in the game.
If you would like to read more about Xbox One controller support on OSX, we have found this article here which talks more in-depth about the issue [www.tekrevue.com]
As this is an issue that is out of our control, we don't have any official response to this issue unfortunately
