How to fix the editor
In its current state, I think I can say this and everyone will agree with me, the editor is great, but limited. The editor compared to Escapists 1's is much more user friendly, but has so much it is missing.

I know very well why the preset rooms were used, they were added so that prisons would be 'playable'. But in turn this has caused maps to be dull and boring for the most part. I have a suggestion that would keep rooms usable, without allowing players to make them unusable.

Instead of a preset, a template!

So the player chooses a size from a set ammount (There could be rectangles, L shapes, squares, all in different sized, so you would have plenty of options! Then you pick a room type. For this I will say we are making a canteen. Then it pulls up a checklist to replace your current one. It says the minimum requirements. Let's say I have 14 cells, it could say "Chairs 0/14", so I would need at least 14 chairs before I could save the prison, it could also say "Tables 0/5". The tables is under the assumption that 1 table can hold 4 people, since 14 divides unevenly over 4, it would say 5 as a safe guess. We could also then be able to put vent grates and our own cameras and door ways into rooms.

NOW FOR PHASE 2!

New objects!

I would like to see wall cameras, which you could TAB a normal camera to select, basically you could make it only placeable on walls (duh). It would also need left and right poses along with is facing down normally. Then we need editor exlusive utility doors! Having just 2 types of security doors is not enough for securing those escape vehicles. Having a 3rd door would help, especially if we could put those inside of template rooms. Along with that at least a white door, so we can make fenced off areas that make sense! Say we want to block off that chopper with a lotta fence, that makes no sense visually. If we had white doors next to it that cannot be opened, it would look a lot more appealing and realistic, rather then just a bunch of rows of fence you have to cut.

AND FOR THE FINAL PHASE!

If templates aren't your favorite idea, at least let us...

1. put our own doorways in rooms (You can have it where we cannot put them infront of objects

2. Change the door types of rooms/remove them

3. put cameras in rooms (Wall cameras would work best if added)

4. Put floor vent covers in rooms

And that is it! I hope you read all of this, and one more thing...

We need desks that we can put what we want in em. I need to lock up a desk under a bunch of doors and shove it full of bananas for the player to find.

4. Put floor vent covers in rooms its already there - just look for vent in objects when you are viewing floor above

If my memory serves me correct you cannot put floor vents in rooms on the 2nd floor, as it counts as editing that room.

Why templates? Why not just give us zones so we can highlight certain blocks and give them a purpose? You could make it so people must test their prison to make sure it's escapable. Simple as that.

We need more themes too. More floors(H.M.P Offshore has like 7 of I'm correct) and an underground layer.

Needs to be more door types What happened to the yellow and green doors? Last I checked those were doors that could be used in normal prisons.

We should be able to set guard patrol routes. Don't want to put a guard in one area to find him on the other side of the prison.

I would also like it if we could make escapes require certain objects that are needed to work.

Making vents in the editor is not user friendly. I should get a transparency of the floor below me so I can see what my vent is above.

When I double layer a wall I want the wall t be thicker not get this weird cross look.

That's really about it. Although the editor is a cool edition it was really really meh for me. So many ways to improve it.

That could work. Would probably be easier. But maybe they want it to hold your hand somewhat with freedom.

Sooo are the devs implying players are too dumb to create something creative? Yeah doubt that's how they are thinking.
It worked in the 1st escapist why not this one.
