If you're having trouble when above 2 stars, the best you can do is to craft a contraband pouch, dogs can't sniff contraband if you have a pouch on your inventory, plus they don't use durability.
Keep in mind dogs are just walking contraband detectors outside of Lockdown.
I was unaware that the contraband pouch blocks dog detection. Good to know. Thank you.
I tend to focus solely on getting the mold so I can return the key faster and get my stuff back to the safety of my desk's hidden compartment sooner. You can worry about actually making the fake key itself later once the coast is clear.
