Permanent keys
This is not a post to complain about the balancing of guard's keys and crafted keys, I'm well aware of why they are the way they are. I'm curious, however, if it's ever possible to grab a key from a guard and perform some maneuver that ends up with it in your hand permanently. Guard dogs can sniff it out anywhere, and seem able to even grab it from underground, so I'm curious if there's somewhere they can't go to look for it. Even if you do somehow manage to get a key, will the lockdown end if they haven't found it? Will a new key be spawned in for the guard, or is he left without one?

hmmm i dont think its possible. the dogs even found the key in the vents and i removed the desk that they cant go up there ... the dog just barked under the vent ... the lockdown ended and well .. the key vanished ;w;

It is possible.
I took a key off a guard in Center Perks and there was never a lockdown.

I think the "bug" happened when someone joined when I took the key, not sure.

I don't think so, if I remember correctly the game specifically claims that they are unstoppable.

Might stop them from sniffing normal contraband? Doubtful, very much so of it protecting a key from them.

Almost wondering if digging a hole into a hollow wall space and putting the wall block back down would stop them- would they dig to get to you or something? The dog that dug a key out of the ground on me also left the ground completely repaired(it was at 20% at the time), so they can modify the terrain to some extent.

There is an exploit to keep the real keys... but you aren't meant to be able to keep them.

I understand that they're designed to only be used for short periods of time by the player, if at all, I'm just curious how you'd be able to keep them, exploit or otherwise. Care to explain?

Remnants of the trick you used to be able to use to keep contraband while being taken by a medic. Dogs can't smell keys in the crafting menu.

Of course.. this means you have to survive lockdown frozen in place by holding a key in your crafting ingredients. Its doable though.

didnt they fixxed that exploit? i remember that someone mentitioned that in another thread that this dosnt works anymore :O

didnt they fixxed that exploit? i remember that someone mentitioned that in another thread that this dosnt works anymore :O
you just take it and go inside a locker and hide it inside your crafting menu, it stays in there as long as you have your inv open

mhm yap i tried it, you dont even need to sit in a locker. you just can stand in your cell, opening the crafting menu and putting the key in there.

however. its very dangerous to run around with that key.
the dogs will sense you and chasing you sooner or later down. you cant putt the keys into your desk either cause sooner or later comes a dog along and gets the key. the 2nd one will have no nonsequences tho but the first one is that 2 dogs just comming at you and knocking you aout except you are fast enough to open the crafting menu and putting the key again back in there XD
