Easier way to use a Putty with Key(?)

It seems you no longer have to take the key out of a guard's inventory, close the inventory window, open the crafting window, craft the mould, close that window, then open guard's inventory again and put the key in. Instead, i seems there's a rightclick -option on the key to "Mould" or some such.

However, I only got it to work once, and that was by putting the putty to the GUARD'S inventory and then right-clicking the PUTTY, which was also buggy as all hell because I couldn't close the guard's inventory window afterwards, it was stuck open until I went to the guard's equipment window and switched back to his normal inventory window and then tried to close it.

So, anyone found a way to do this easier version of key copying consistently?
Is it just really buggy right now?

I tried moving both key n putty to my hotbar and then rightclicking the key and puddy, nothing, same with the guard's inventory although that only worked once for me, I tried having them divided both ways, however no success.
