-On quest it could be played offline and now requires an internet connection;
- It requires an email address and information like gender and birth date (gotta mine the user data to sell it);
- Marketing agreement is opt-out and not opt-in.
So, even if was the same game on the quest (and it's not), this three "features" being added AFTER purchase woud be enough to receive negative review
Be careful what you wish for. I am not a fan.
I have a feeling that when the PC versions update (here and on Oculus) that all of us who have custom workouts with custom music will lose all of it. The new FitXR version does not even allow custom workouts with the included music.
You dont go and buy a car..and sign up to the fact the company at some point will take the wheels and doors of do you oh whilst we at it lets take the engine as well???
Seriously think otherwise BOXVR/FitXR will quickly become a thing of the past...
Money grubbing shareholder capitalists in the company and on the board who push startups to include market proven anti-consumer measures for monetization because those measures have being proven useful against people with low-impulse control (most of us at this point), including strategies like FOMO and alternative forms of 'value adding' (take out these features that would make these other features we could otherwise charge for moot).
The tech startup market is pretty much built around luring a userbase in with a decent/growing value proposition before capitalists come in to bait and switch with anti-consumer friendly products and strategies in order to show revenue growth potential.
What's a real shame about it is... this is true irrespective of the company - the ones that are generous for longer merely have a longer rope to snare more people - see Google, Facebook, etc.
I can only recommend that users turn off updates for this game in their libraries.
