We are in the process of making tutorial videos for the map editor and finalizing some written documentation. We will post it when it is complete. In the meanwhile I'm happy to help walk you through how to use the editor.
To answer the question you posed, you move the camera around by holding down the right mouse button and using the WSAD keys to move around. On the bottom right of the screen are tooltips that might be able to help you figure out more of the hotkeys.
Thanks
To move faster when using WSAD, simply hold down the Shift key while you are moving. It is listed at the bottom where our tool-tips are, or are you not able to see them? Only asking so we can improve our user experience.
At the top, next to Select there are some arrows in shapes. The order goes Select, Transform, Rotate, and Scale. Once you click on an object you can rotate it by either clicking on the rotate icon at the top, or pressing the 3 key. This will show the rotation gizmo you can use to rotate the prop. You can also manually input the degrees that you want to rotate into the sidebar on the right hand side after selecting an object you wish to rotate.
Hope it helps,
Thanks!
I'm sure the manual you guys are working on will be great. But untill then I'll just have toget a grip of it and not give up.
Thanks again.
I don't think anything less of you because you're asking questions about how the editor works. I'm just trying to see where we can improve our onboarding process. If our design is not intuitive then something needs to be fixed.
Also, Holding down Shift + Right Mouse Button + WSAD didn't increase your speed? That could be a bug, what kind of computer are you using?
Thanks
Maybe using the mouse to move with scroll wheel might work better, but it's just an idea.
also when i click the mouse wheel my view weirdly moved upwards.
The idea was that users could adjust their frame of reference using the camera controls (right click + WSAD/QE) then be free to manipulate the object once they have their view set.
What map(s) are you experiencing a slow camera movement on?
To stop moving you could just release the right mouse button, that should stop all movement.
Middle mouse is used for slowly panning the screen, so it's like you're clicking and dragging to move the camera slowly for fine edits.
Thanks
