The dev team is looking at other platforms to release the sim on. Currently it's prioritizing consoles. I will share your feedback with them.
I appreciate the passion in your response, but I don't understand why you think that the sim wouldn't be able to support transmitters on a console. USB has been a standard feature on consoles for years now.
Thanks!
I assumed it wouldn't work as you can't just plug in any usb device as a controller on a console
Please !!
I think MS and Sony are a bit funny about which USB devices are supported on their consoles. It's not as simple as just plugging it in and expecting it to work.
Go ahead, connect your PPM/PWM/PAM signal to xinput converter (google: flysky usb) to a console and see what happens. Best case scenario you'll get an "unknown device" prompt, but my guess would be a console won't even be able to detect it.
USB is not some magical connector through which everything just works. Some devices are driverless, such as thumb drives, but most devices need drivers. Consoles have fixed drivers which don't include RC TX signal readers.
Only expensive RC TX that support xinput over USB might work, so the customer base will be again limited. Most people use radios that connects to a computer through the 3.5mm trainer port, or similar, which outputs a PPM signal.
Meanwhile, linux would be in every way the logical next step, especially since the game/simulator is on steam.
In fact I don't see why the devs couldnt implement transmitters as joysticks in the game just like the creators of: Rocksmith, Rock Band, Taiko no Tatsujin, Steel Battalion, Buzz!, Pokemon Lets Go!, Wii Fit, DDR, Donkey Konga, Rapala Pro Fishing, Farming Simulator etc (I could go on) implemented special controllers in theirs.
In fact I don't see why we couldn't get a wireless dongle with an option to add your own rx (like we do now with spacre FCs and RXes) on console.
That being said, it would indeed be wonderful if the devs decided to add linux support or at least Proton compatibility. As of now the game starts to a black screen in both proton 3.xx and 4.xx.
Thanks for your consideration
I now exclusively use linux computers at work, and I dream of the day my entire steam library will be available on linux so I can finally switch from windows to linux at home too ;)
Why wait? I made the full switch back in 2010 when the only way to run Steam in Linux was through Wine. Now, out of over 800 games in my library, over 500 support Linux, the vast majority of them native. Plenty to keep me occupied and happy for ages. I don't have much desire to play the other 300 because there's so much to do with the rest, but if I did, there's a decent chance they're unofficially supported by Proton or work in Wine.
I did notice another drone racing sim with native Linux support, though I haven't tried it, let alone DRL.
Liftoff is far superior anyway. I only wish they make more big environments like Hannover and Bando,
Thanks for your feedback!!
