Pro mode is based on the controls found in real world racing drones, also known as acro mode, or manual mode. Flying drones can be a lot of fun, but for a lot of people, starting on Pro Mode is just frustrating. One of the goals of the game is to help someone go from player to drone pilot, which is why the different flight modes and the training missions were added, to help ease players into drone racing.
Practicing on Easy Mode, then going directly to Pro Mode could be a very frustrating experience. Though, I wouldn't call it a waste, if I had fun flying at the time.
If flying Pro Mode is your goal I recommend flying the training missions. Training is still in it's early stages, but it will be expanded on often. It doesn't start off on Pro Mode, but it does begin to walk you toward it. The current available missions focus on stick control, which is an important first step. And if you want to jump into Pro Mode right now, I would recommend heading to the Freestyle version of Gates of Hell and just flying around. It helped me early on.
I'm a noob.
Hi Robotron,
The hope is that with the training missions, players will be able to work their way to becoming pilots and racers with minimal frustration. Flying can be tough, but the great thing is, that once you learn to fly manual mode here, you'll be able to fly manual mode in the real world.
Since you're a new pilot, I'd like to know what you think of the training so far. Keep in mind, that there are more missions coming, so there will be plenty more to practice and learn.
Thanks.
That's awesome to hear. Is there anything about it you like specifically?
Training missions have been designed as a flight school to guide players toward Pro Mode. The latest update to the missions has locked in the flight modes so that as you progress trough the quest lines, you also progress through the modes.
I would recommend going back to a previous quest line and work your way through, then practicing when you start finding missions difficult. It's going to be challenging, but it's super satisfying when you start making progress again.
I hope this helps. Thanks for sharing your experience here. If you have any more feedback, please feel free to share it. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the training.
That's great to hear! Thanks for sharing BossRoss. Welcome to IRL drone racing!
And for the ones getting frustrated on Pro mode I can tell you that I've started from the beginning in pro, because I always felt that the flight assists get in the way and does not allow to fly properly. It took me like 15hours to dominate a good steady flight. Don't get frustrated if you can't handle the pro mode at the beginning is just matter of practice and enjoy the movement through the tracks. And try every track, there's a lot of specific techniques and stuff on each one of them to learn.
And I second everything you said about "pro" mode, it really is the only way to fly! Unless you're like citrysk and you have stab only quads.
We are doing Missions for beginners with zero flight time.
After we nail the introduction to beginners we want to invest in Missions running with Pro Mode so the skilled community also enjoy missions.
@BossRoss
We had several Steam instabilities yesterday. Should be ok by now.
If you still fails to load Ghosts, please create a topic and send your Log.
Thank you guys!
