Unable to set Race Restart and flipped Drone switch
I'm using a FrSKY Taranis X9D Plus and when setting up a new controller, I am unable to set Race Restart and Flipped Drone to any switch. My only option is to skip or exit the setup.

Has anyone been able to set these options to switches on their Taranis?

Hey Guys.. For those having issues with setting up your switches.. You will need to create a new controller profile in the Taranis itself. You will also need to enable those switches that youd like to use as a channel on the controller. The issue is not from the sim, yet from setting up the Taranis properly. Here is a link to the old sim that shows how to setup the taranis to allow the usage of those switches. Althought it is for the old sim, the concept is the same and will work here. Good Luck and Happy Flying!

Thanks, this worked on my Devo too.

KaNoodle,

I just double checked my Taranis settings. Everything looks good and setup as per the video. Unfortunatly the reset and restart switches still doesn't work. I should also mention that the switches work in DRL Beta.

I'm using a Spektrum DX7 (DSM2). I don't see any place in my menus to assign a switch to a channel. Here are a couple videos showing my problem. First is a short video showing the switches moving as I move the right stick for roll.
https://youtu.be/oXavuc6VPkM

second shows setting up a NEW contgroller and not touchiung a single switch or stick. I only hit next when available. The setup program was receiving input from something. I tried 3 different USB ports including USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 both front and back ports. This is using the USB adapter that was purchaed from Amazon based on the link provided by DRL

Flingwing:

If you have a new model created in the Taranis and have assigned channels to the switches in the profile on that radio, then it should work when you setup a new controller in the game. As long as the switches are setup exactly how that video shows, then the game will detect them. Were not finding any issues with the game when it comes to setting up the Taranis radio. The only thing I would suggest would be to try again, at this point I dont have any other solution for you. I'm sorry. :(

As for Kaelan...

You need to use the video that talks about setting up your "Spektrum" radio. Not the Taranis video. Here is a link below to the spektrum radio. It is the same concept. Keep in mind that this is not for the exact DX7, nor have confirmed that specific controller..

Once the controller is setup properly then the game will detect the open channel to allow the switches to work. Also keep in mind the USB dongles for Spektrum are very touch and go. Some work and others do not for some reason. Since the Spektrum radio uses an Audio jack to send its information, we have noticed that it is not the smoothest. We have found that USB dongles that have a multi switch on the side of them work better than those that do not. Also you can try using the program SmartProPoPlus and just go straight audio to audio to see if that works. Sorry for the inconvienece. Hope you are able to get it working.

KaNoodle,

Unfortunately those videos won't work for the DX7 as the menus are completely different. I think the problem lies in the USB adapater. When I setup SmartProPro plus everything worked fine (switches were in differnt locations but once you know which one is chan 5 and chan 6 it's all good)

What do I do if my controller does not have any switches at all?

I am having the same issue as well. Only I am using the Taranis QX 7, As another said, it does work in the beta versions. However, I know High Voltage reconizes the swtiches as I use them to skip the mini videos in the beginning of the race. I did figure out that perhaps DRL does this but under Mixers, there are channels that seem to be tied with DRL. I went and deleted all these, DRL did not notice I was flipping a switch and would not react. But with a model WITH these mysterious channels set, they did. I did follow the YouTube video. Actually searched for it before coming here as it's frusterating to hit the R key than get all situated once again in a hurry.

One other thing, KaDoodle how come you have 244 props in the beta when us non devs only get 20? :)

Someone over on RCGroups posted this about a different sim. Wonder if it will work here. I'll give it a try when I have some time.

"Channel 9 and onwards are registered as buttons! I mean, the remote is just a giant gamepad anyway in windows. So throw some switches on Ch9+ in the mixer page and assign them to keys in your sim of choice."

I've got a FS-TH9X that is having similar issues. Connected through trainer to mic port on computer, and running smartpropoplus. In Mode 2 (if I remember correctly) I have experienced the restart bound to left roll. I have also been unable to get a channel bound to the reset correctly. I unbound the AUX channels and was able to keep it from resetting on roll. I have also noticed that the deadzone adjustment doesn't seem to do anything. I have it up to 10% and the drone will not maintain steady flight after trimming. Constantly dives off axis after adjusting trim tabs to center each axis.

So my Taranis QX7 switches won't work for race start, or reset. I have them configured in radio like old sim, and as prescribed.

Hey everyone,

If you're still having issues after having followed the steps in the links that @KaNoodle has posted, please be patient. There is an update incoming that should address the challenges you've encountered.

The update should be out soon. Thanks everyone!

Just tried setting up a new model on my Taranis with the latest update. Still no luck. Any news on getting the restart and reset working?
