I'm sorry to hear that your game won't launch.
Could you take a look at the PC troubleshooting in the link below and go through any of the steps you may not have tried, then try again:
https://ubi.li/x17TX
However, if the issue persists could you please confirm your PC specifications.
Thanks for the response, I have now tried all the options in that article now and I still have the same issue, I press play, the Uplay window pops up, it says "launching your game" then it disappears and the game doesn't launch and I don't see it running in task manager and neither steam nor Uplay shows it running either. I do not know what the issue is as I don't get any error message or information at all, it simply doesn't launch. It's even stranger because for a good few months the game worked fine.
Hey Dan the Man,
apologies for the delayed response and sorry that the issue still persists for you.
I have a few more steps which I could advise you to try and see if this may help resolving the issue for you:
1. Close Ubisoft Connect completely from the Taskmanager. Once that is done, please go to the installation location of the folder which in default is under the following path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\
Delete the following Folders: "cache" "crash" "logs" and "shareplay". Additionally, when you scroll down, there should be a txt file named "version.txt" Delete that one as well.
2. Delete the Download Cache on Steam. That can help with certain issues.
https://ubi.li/0eUOv
PLEASE NOTE: Make sure you keep note of your login details for both Ubisoft and Steam, as you get asked to log in again once clearing the caches.
3. Make sure both Steam and Ubisoft are still closed. Then type "Run" in the windows search bar in the bottom left corner, open it and type %programdata%. Once there, Delete the Ubisoft Folder.
4. Type %Appdata% (same way as mentioned in step 5) then > click local > and delete the Ubisoft folder there. Open the temp folder and delete everything in it (please make sure that if certain files cannot be deleted, leave them in there) and close the window
5. Type "Settings" in the search bar, then click on "System" > "Storage" and click on temporary files. And remove the files in there (if you do not wish to remove files such as download, make sure it's unticked)
6. Restart your PC and login to Steam. Once logged in, try to repair your storage folder as this can also help to resolve certain issues with game files that are damaged, missing or corrupted. On the Steam client, click on Settings >> Storage >> click on the 3 dots on the top right >> Repair Folder
7. Verify your game files again:
https://ubi.li/dHKLq
Once you start the game over Steam, it should open Ubisoft Connect, it will look for patches, download and recreate the folders you removed from Step 1.
Should the issue persists, would you mind providing us the following information so we can look into this further for you:
1. Could you let us know some of the specs of your system?
- OS you're using
- CPU
- GPU
- RAM
2. Do you play on a Laptop or PC Desktop?
3. Is the game installed on the same drive as the launcher, or on different ones?
4. Could you let us know on what type of drive they are installed on? (SSD, HDD, Virtual Drive, External Drive)
I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any further queries.
Thank you for the suggestions, but sadly even after doing all of those steps the issue still persists. So to give you the extra information you require:
1. My specs are:
Windows 11 Home
12th Gen Intel Core i5-12600K, 3700 Mhz, 10 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060
32 GB of Ram (I cannot remember the brand or model name)
2. I am playing on a desktop PC
3. I have the launcher and the game on different drives, but a few months ago when the game was working I had the same setup and it worked then.
4. The launcher is on an HDD and the game is on an NVME SSD
Apologies for the late response. I'm also sorry to hear that the issue persists.
I would also recommend trying each of the following:
- Ensure your game is running on a dedicated GPU rather than an integrated GPU - https://ubi.li/q0hCX
- Add the game to the white list of your anti virus software
- Launch the game in Windows compatibility mode - https://ubi.li/h0VCZ
- Perform a SFC scan - https://ubi.li/OYBuj
- Unplug non-essential peripherals (extra monitors, controllers, VR equipment, etc.)
- Reinstall the support software - https://ubi.li/s9Zj3
- Uninstall the game and Ubisoft Connect, then reinstall them on the same drive if possible - https://ubi.li/cf8hs (I understand it worked previously on different drives, however we would recommend trying this)
