I'm a new player and I don't understand why you guys hate uplay so much?

Somewhat feels weird, when buying a game on Steam and launching through Steam you're first getting re-directed to another launcher, where you need to login, to play the game you purchased through Steam.
Fazo Sep 29, 2018 @ 8:39am
well you also run two launchers when playing blizzard/EA games bc you're not going to turn off steam...? at least ubisoft gives us the option to add it to the steam library so your friends can see what you're playing. that's the only reason we buy from steam anyways.

you would do the same if they sold blizzard games on steam and ppl would ask "why battlenet?"
@fazo this

also you have at least the option to buy it on steam not like ea did and removed games on steam and sells only on origin now or like microsoft did with age of empires.

if you don´t like to use another launcher don´t buy on steam.

@[CHN]Twenty I can't speak for everyone, but I really dislike having more than one or two game distribution platforms on my PC. Origin, Uplay, Bethesda.net, and Battle.net all have platform exclusive games on them, like Battlefield or Overwatch. If you own at least one exclusive game per platform, that's five apps you need installed on your PC. It's cumbersome and annoying.

As much as companies like Ubi like to parade the term "player choice" around, we weren't really given a choice to play Trials Rising without Uplay, were we?

No, all Ubisoft games come with Ucancer.

@Yasuo Thanks for the reply, I got your point. But I think @Wolferatus is also makes sense. At least you have the right to choose where to buy it. maybe that is the "player choice" that Ubi gives to you.

This will require uplay? Not buying in that case. Shame, adored Trials Fusion back in the day and was really looking forward to this one.

It is not so bad. App seems to not hog resources but I do agree it is getting silly with all the front end stuff from Devs.. I mean games just used to load but now it has to report you are on, and get a bunch of data....blah blah...connectivity is good blah blah. Solo games online? you are a labrat they are watching..may be good if info is used for improved play but we know what they do with your data...everyone,,,data data data sell sell sell..repeat until you understand it fully...
So I agree front end apps are a drain just seems uplay is not too bad in that way. Fusion was fun but just a couple of fixes and additions would make a great game so I wish Rising will fufill its destiny as a better Trials game but with all the bad games coming out it does seem a hard task to do.
Boycott...divest...sanction....
its helping people and it can help you too!

Uplay is pretty nice. I prefer to have only one launcher but to miss out on great games, due to Uplay, well,... more power to U, I guess :/

The Trials games, Steep, Assassins Series, Rainbow Six Siege, The Division and a ton of more games that I am enjoying through Uplay.

Fortnite, Overwatch,... All use separate launchers as well. GTA V needs U to log into a third party (not Steam) to be able to be played,... Again, I prefer to have just the one launcher, but rather play them outside of Steam than not at all.

It's frustrating because my uplay is linked to a dead email so I have to sacrifice all my previous games to play this one unless I want to install it on the dead account and hope I am never asked for my password again.
