What kind of mechanics were you thinking of? It would be helpful if you could give an example of another game with more in depth mechanics that you enjoy.

NO game is perfect, but over time it can 'grow' and turn into something even better!
I had fun with the controls, the attacks, upgrades and types of enemies, and bosses. I loved the idea of doing more damage from behind, where they might have weaker armor!
This game is PRETTY good out of the gate! Many games are a buggy mess nowadays, this wasn't, I have played quite a few runs and experienced NO bugs or issues!
They don't release finished products.
