This root is dead end. You should replay from the earlier checkpoint.

Hi, I'm also stuck in the same place, and cannot figure out what to do and have replayed the same part for the 10th time already

savvy used to advise us not to trigger chase's paranoid(during the beast's belly scene)...maybe it would be the key that prevent chase from shooting bones or the alien?

Hm, best that I done is team running away with some shooting and explosions but some alien bastard hijacked their capsule and medic - (bones?) killed so other two had enough resources for rescue.

Yeah, same here. There are two more fairly obvious things that I want to try out, but playing through the entire game feels tedious at this point, so might just play something else instead. But if someone else wants to try:

1. Bury Sarge. Perhaps his body was taken over by the aliens, and that's how the managed to launch the lander. Bones says '(Fun?) story: (I) lied about Sarge." shortly before his own death - it might b erelated, or it might not.

2. Try a playthrough with as little time-wasting as possible. Don't bury Sarge, ignore the reactor, don't let the team rest if possible. The idea is to get back to the lander before it gets captured. But I'm not sure if the game even tracks time globally, so far it doesn't seem to.

I try my best to save every second, but it still leads to the partical success ending. So time might not be the key to proceed imho.

I think you have something here. After all, it's first real point of return while some, which seems more important on first glance is lack anchors. I mean, I am allowed to burry Sarge and isn't this possibility that this just giving him to the "Allien Structure"

Actually, as Russian, I know where to find guide for good ending but I am refrain from this for now.

Hmmm, what if Bones is actually spy of Russian government who become a part of the team to sabotage mission. I mean, almost on start he is (at least in russian version)
mention how it is "best infiltration ever" and somebody in team mention "how wrong it's sound. Also, by his story, he is learned in the St. Peterburg Medical University, isn't it good place to be recruted? Or it's can be cover from the start.
. It's also interesting how... ehm... I don't know how he called in english version (basically scout) in partial success, while killing bones said "It's it, or he kills us both"

But then it is sad since I felt onbliged to cheer for him

I haven't checked it all out to know where it goes, but try making them go left when they find the base. It is a safe approach and it's entirely different than the other way.

The long way is death, which I fault the devs for putting a "rocks fall, everyone dies" situation after a long wait. The short way to the right, you have to enter the tunnel and I think have tried everything that way. The only non-death ending is where the lander leaves.
This way is a dead end. You have to save as much time as possible in the fist act so you can make it to the structure before the metior shower
