In any case, I'll wait for the final release of the game, buy MOWAS2 and make a lot of modes for good spent time and a long life of the game.
With best regards DMS
Lemi
How about game store page update? There must be warning about multiplayer restrictions.
Now the crutch of gamespy is gone hopefully we will see future games have a system tailored around the game instead of shoe horning it into that awful service that retained serious flaws and bugs from as far back as 2003 (C&C Generals)
1. Gamespy are a completely different company, Companies such as this, BI for example cannot control what they do.
2. Companies cannot predict what other companies are going to do meaning the release of MP DLC when it was released was justified.
Plus a possible reason for no steam MP.
When making a game the engine(and engine version) it uses has limitations, meaning somethings can not be done hence MOW can not be redone for Steam MP (this one is just speculation, it is the only logical reason I can think of).
Nor will it make anyone happy who bought AS2 if we spend our resources on a 3+ year old game instead of improving the latest iteration of the series.
We are not responsible for the GameSpy shut down. We moved to Steamworks in AS2, because GameSpy did not provide any serious updates in the last "couple" of years and the technology was completely outdated. Steam is the future, so is AS2.
I will remove the shouting and conspiracy theory posts now. We offered you some solutions long before you need them, it is up to you if you take advantage of them or not.
You show'em boss, no unruly customer gonna tell you what to do. ^^
Indeed, people can choose not to play multiplayer of a multiplayer game.
Guessing MoWAS2 will get a discount around may 31. A "keep playing" promo. :D
Truth is most GEM engine games are EOL as far as 1C is concerned. Hell MoW was abandoned less than a year after its release, way back in 2010, and Condemned Heroes/Vietnam never had any support in the first place. DMS was kind enough to support MoWAS till 2012, and continued external support through MoWAS2.
We were just lucky this didnt happen before, and were able enjoy MoW(AS) multiplayer this long. Had Gamespy kicked the bucket a year or two prior, it would have been still up to Scott Kevills Gameranger to save the community.
Yep. They keep telling us how they love games, and can't provide support for previous titles. Btw, there was big sell of MoWAS1 not so long ago. And now they abandon support for MP in all their old titles. Thank God for Valve, we can be shure, that steamworks MP will last long.
But it's not developer's achievement. Btw, one big reason for low multiplayer in old titles is nat problems with Gameranger. Unofficial MP through lan with VPN like hamachi is much easier.
There are plenty of tech problems with MoWAS2 now. And there are only promises of fixes.
They added multithread support, but FPS is low as before. And much lower in multiplayer. You can read sticked topic in MoWAS2 steam community forum.
Seems developers are very confident that they can fix all problems.
It'll be great, but I'll wait untill it happen.
Now all of this looks like another croudfunding fraud. Because things they promise very hard to achieve. Expecially in such a short period of time.
Judging on this post
They'll release game in May. I don't believe they can fix all performance problems before.
By performance problems I mean very low FPS on any configuration with more than for example 50 units.
Same as in MoWAS1. Multi-threading now only adds distribution of calculation between cores - no boost. Before it was high load on one core - now it's low load on all cores.
I dont know if I should give you a beating or your having a joke, As I have play mowas1 over 1300hrs and my favourite game that I have ever played would be nice to see DMS to bring steam multiplayer to as1, I know their understaff and not a rich company like some others, But they should say just buy as2 as it the same as as1 when it totally different. As2 feels like a cheap knock off between warcraft and coh, When as1 was this amazing RTS game when skills made the game and the amazing gameplay made the game, As2 is all about spam, spam, spam, spam, spam then spam.
