2. If i get that right, none of them.
3. I recommend Hamachi
4. Nope.

At me, the same.
1. At friends there work Gameranger, but not at me. When I play with friends, it´s over Hamachi.
So: use GameRanger, Hamachi and Tunngle involve VACBAN? There is real risk that Steam block my account / game? Have you suffered banishment (VacBan)? If yes: I conclude that the "multiplayer" option is over-DEFINITELY (the fact that it is unfair: because on Steam the MOW:AS is released with the "Multiplayer" option and I bought under this condition) ... :(
Why the hell would Steam issue VAC Bans? Many games on Steam simply rely on Gameranger/Hamachi/Tunngle for multiplayer.
Using a LAN Adapter to be on the same network with friends (which by the way doesn´t alter your normal internet connection at all), is not the same like e.g. using a proxy to buy cheap-@ss games from russia.
edit: As for the question at hand, hamachi worked like a charm yesterday :)
You can find and install this program here: https://www.gameranger.com/
Please note that there is a problem when trying to play the "Steam" version of this game with GameRanger. When the game starts in a GameRanger room, the player will get to the LAN room but does not see the host or any other player. There is a solution to this issue which involves taking the "Men of War Assault Squad" game folder out of the “steamapps” folder on your hard drive.
On your hard drive, look for the game’s folder. It should be inside the “steamapps” folder. Move the entire “Men of War Assault Squad” folder out and put it on your Desktop. Do not copy and paste anything! Make sure your computer does not start copying anything if you are dragging and dropping.
Once you have taken out the folder, tell GameRanger the new file path to open the game (the .exe that opens the game). To do that in GameRanger from the main window, go to “Edit” from menu bar, then go to “Options” (or you can save some time and use Ctrl + E to get the “Options” window). Next, click on “Games”, click on Men of War Assault Squad, and then click the “Browse” button, then find the .exe (the icon you double-click to open the game itself, usually located as a shortcut on your Desktop), and then you should be done.
Under “Location”, you should get a file path similar to this (depending on your game edition; please note that the filepath should not contain "steam" or "steamapps" anywhere):
C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Company\Men of War. Assault Squad. Game Of The Year\mow_assault_squad.exe
After all that, test it out on GameRanger. One more thing, make sure your game version is up to date (2.05.15). It should be already updated to the latest version though, since Steam updates the game automatically. Since this game is “old”, there will be no more updates from the publisher in the future, so you do not have to put this game back in Steam ever again.
Best of luck to you!
